Default BFT off Bogue Pier

Has anyone heard the story about the BFT that beached itself near the pier?

79" fish is not small. Don't talk if ya don't know.

Probably 300 + pounds. Fish swam up on the beach and died. Looked good, nobody knows what happened to it for sure. Some guy started cutting it up right there though. I big waste IMO. It could have been sold and split with the people that found it. Instead, now he has a bunch of tuna meat that taste like stale butt.

Yeah, 80", not pounds. My bad. Nothing like the sweet reminders of your mistaken speech by someone hiding behind a keyboard.

My name is listed, my boat is listed, my email is there.

How am I hiding?

Ok, an 80" fish is small now right? How many have you caught?

whatever

Do you think that the excess Navy warships in the area had anything to do with it? I saw at least 3 different ones and a friend near the inlet saw 3 all at roughly the same time. That is at least 6 ships in the area. Rumor has it that they were testing a torpedo interceptor. I hope they don't bring the sonar testing range here as proposed.

80" is a small fish, a "large medium" to be accurate, and does NOT weigh 300+ lbs as you write. Additionally, the ppl who found it could nt have sodl it as they most likely didn't have a lisense to do so, which is not issued to a person but a boat. When you claim someone doesn't know what he's talking about, it's generally a good idea to know what YOU'RE talking about. Shhhh...

I am concerned with the sonar crap, too. It's not going to be a good thing for those of us fishing the Onslow Bay!!! The last time they tested this Summer.....the bait and the fish were nowhere to be found for 2 weeks...coincidence??? I doubt it. At least it doesn't seem to hurt my Grouper fishing!

I don't have a dog in this hunt but all the weight talk got me curious...and according to the site below an 80" Bluefin is estimated at 320#.....that would make John Boy right on the money at least as far as an estimated weight goes.

Yeah, I was thinking an 80" fish (which is a large medium) should be up around 300#'s too. Giants, which are 81" or larger (or at least that's what it used to be... who knows, they change things around so frequently with the BFT fishery) generally are going to be 300 lbs and over. This is the chart I use, but it may be old news:

Large school 47-59" 66-135lbs
Small Medium 59-73" 135-235lbs
Large Medium 73-81" 235-310lbs
Giant 81"+ 310lbs. +
93" 450-500 lbs.

Guy couldn't sell it. I believe it's technically even illegal to fish for them from surf or pier, due to the permit being for the boat.

If a guy relies on a weight chart to make his point, he doesn't know squat. Iv'e caught dozens of fish in the 80 inch range and rarely are they 300 lbs...

What do I know, I only catch and sell them. So, I would not know the weight of these fish would I? Duh

Any your wrong about not having a license too. A friend of mine was there and does have a Commercial lic. The first person there wanted to eat the fish so he cut it up.

Maybe I should post up my weight receipt from the 79" fish I caught last year.

HMMMMMM....now what was that about not knowing what your talking about?

Come on back when you pull your head out of your ass

BTW...good to hear from you JB. I have not seen you since this time last year. Hope to see ya soon.

I am heading out Friday to look for 1. It should be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. LOL

Let me guess CMP........Northeast??? obviously not from NC....in rural NC that kind of talk and attitude in person is followed by a loud pop and a "watch this!" You need to quit wasting time with your dozens of under weight 80" BFT and develop some social skills...of course if you don't spout off like that in person anywhere down here you'll be fine. What a jerkweed Amazing how some of you internet jockey know it alls can turn simple replies into personal attacks....grow up and get a hobby to alleviate your self absorbant tendancies.

Really, so when jockey boy or whatever his naem is slams the guy who started this post it's ok, but when I hit him as a no-nothing "I caught one 79" fish", I'm the problem? LOL! Too funny. Then again, I guess it's a perspective thing. 79" is a big bluefin for you boys. Up here, it's a rat. ...
