We are thinking of running out Thursday afternoon and bottom fishing. Stay overnight to Friday and troll at sunrise. I'm running out of Hilton Head.

I usually put in around Ocean Isle and run out of Shallotte inlet. The boatís kept at Monster Storage off of 17 between OIB and Sunset so thatís usually the easiest water access for me. I wouldnít be opposed to Little River though, especially if fishing south.

Looks like a good time for my first off shore trip. Any thoughts on the best place? I would like to stay within 5 miles of Beaufort inlet.

Chasin Tales has a page on their website with coordinates for everything. Very useful.

I'm a newbie as well, but I dont think these guys think 5 miles is offshore. I think they consider that nearshore 😁. To me, it might as well be close to England, as that is the max I've made it out so far.

Good luck! Hopefully hear a report back from you with pictures!

i hope you put more thought into this then making that decision on others choice. 5 miles out of Beaufort may turn up some kings but not too much else to troll for unless, of course, you want to join seachicken, but that fishery may be a little out of your league yet. theres plenty of resources for local numbers, best to take bottom gear and give that a shot

I have zero offshore experience, so yes, I would strongly consider what guys with experience say. I can pick a spot on the map, but I donít know what bait or technique to use.

Iíve spent the last couple days going up Adams creek. Pamlico was real rough this morning. I spent most of the time exploring the bays and creek mouths off Adams.

I would be happy catching anything really. Even not catching anything is better than working.
