Default Cape Fear/ Holden beach fishing report

Finally gonna make it back down to the area the first week in October for annual fall fishing trip. Seeking reports from fellow THT members on the availability of pogies and if kings and Spanish are back near the beach after Dorian.

Looked for some Spanish here Monday 23rd.off the beach. Did not find any, went down to Little river.
Lot's of bait though so there should some king's around for those who want them when the water gets better.
Water was milky greenish.

Amazing the difference 24 hrs can make!! Oak island has no beach grass, plywood, and all kinds of lumber on the beach! Incredible! Lots of floating debris as well. Saw a few triple tail under a flower pot! I never thought the debris, I assume from the Bahamas would make it here! Its here! Be safe!

Fish shy are here! 8 caught at ocean crest even in the chocolate milk. Biggest was 27 when I left there.

The Open might not be so fun for those planning to do anything other than troll the beach...Sat is going to be howling 26 mph NE winds with gust up to 35 mph NE around light house rocks..... and Friday outta the SW 15 mph with gust to 24
mph.....I wouldn't be surprised to see a craft advisory. Finding bait will be a challenge in those winds...BUT there will be good fish caught!

true that! Were thinking of making that long run Friday, catching the winning fish, weigh in, then drink beers on the beach Saturday and enjoy the NE wind. Be in a 36YF so we can take some beating but when it gets to spilling beers, youll see us on the beach... what beach who knows!

bad thing is its going to blow from the wsw wed, Thur, and Friday. Beach will be mud. Weather kills the small boats again!

Wicked the way the wind is changing, changing an entire 180 degrees within a few hours...I'm assuming its the cold front when it comes through....hard to guess whats going to happen to the bite...ether get better or shut down...
