I suppose you are looking for an easy button answer, but there isn't one. The 5/6 biggest trout I have ever caught have been caught on different lures.

No Magic answer....

I'd say most would agree that topwater tends to produce some larger fish on average but my biggest fish like the post above have been on different things.

I like to rig two white Lima bean bucktails with white hair in tandem about 16" apart with a gulp white curly tail ( sometimes with the tail ).

MR-17 808 is fun too.

Biggest trout I caught was fishing a live pinfish under a cork. Also caught big ones fishing a pink Mirrodine as well as a Rainbow Trout MR-17

I caught my largest one on a Zara Spook. It was the large one that I think is called a super spook but I've caught better numbers on Jigs. Usually when I go with the wife we just use shrimp under a poppin cork.

All the trout over 7 lbs I have caught all came on mirrolures 52MR. That includes numerous 8 lbers, a handful of 9 lbers and 2 10 lbers. Have caught a few 6 lbers on green grubworms with red head.

Paul brown fat boyz or Mirrolures . Both slow sinking. The Paul browns sink way slower ,better when it's colder out. . Poping corks with live shrimp or gulps.

Anywhere from 4-7lbs all on red head jig with some type of gulp. Caught several big ones surf fishing with double buck tails with green curly tail on trailer. If they are there and something goes by they will hit it.

Live finger mullet. 2 on one 4/0 circle hook. Thats the big trout special. As for artificials mirror lures are good and most mullet imitations are good too.

I’ve never caught the really big trout fishing around Little River including the inlet. I think the water isn’t right since it’s always a dark coffee brown. If anybody is successful in that area what are you using? The trout that I do catch are usually on a mud minnow or a Gulp shrimp. They won’t take a crank bait here.
