Default shark island off Cape Lookout?

is the island still there I plan to be on Harkers next month and its always fun to go out to shark Island. I understand the storm did some damage or did it totally go away?

I assume the ditch running from the east end of Harkers to the cape is still open with local markers?

thanks

The ditch is still there. The island is still there. The island has changed significantly but still is there. Approach can be a bit tricky.

Approach is simple. Just go straight in from the West. Stay inshore of the shoal to the South- a small lump. Head straight toward the palm tree or slightly North. There’s four feet of water minimum. Once close to the island you can follow the shoreline around to the North cove. There was a 30 footer in there three weeks ago. The island is huge and high. Great shelling on the East side.

Did not see the tree on the 19th. Island was there, but I found it a bit sporty to try an approach
Previously watched three different dogs come ashore, and each immediately did a beeline to it to do their duty.

The hook on the end of CL has been degraded severely by the passing of Dorian. Have not ventured out towards SI since the storm. Assuming it also has been severely eroded, though.

Thanks for posting that link.

The main island looks much the same except for major erosion to the North "finger" pretty well wiping it out-
