Default Squid in Ocean Isle?

I caught a few squid off my dock in Ocean Isle. Are they normally around? Does anyone have success catching them?

I caught very small - thumb sized - squid in my canal this week at night. Was releasing one of the things and it bit the palm of my hand good. Didn't break the skin, but he let me know he was unhappy.
Caught a dozen or so that night.

I had caught a few years ago, but this was the first time in many years.
Makes me think mama went up the canal and laid the eggs. This was on higher but falling tide. I don't think they swam in on the incoming tide, but I could be wrong.

They were all in the 4-6Ē range. This was a smaller one.

Thatís awesome! I see octopus while gigging and get them in the cast net some times but never a squid. Maybe itís time to break out the squid jigs in the winter over some nearshore reefs. Had one hell of a time squid fishing in Boston several years ago

I donít think itís a Cuttlefish. It has round eyes and shorter fins on the mantle.

Pupils look more w shaped than perfect round when zoomed in (not perfect and round like a squid)), so I still say cuttlefish.
