Had pretty good luck around Wrightsville with the finger mullet.....what I was trying to catch with them.....not so much.

Been a while since I have been skunked with live bait.

Let me shoot myself in the foot and give you and the group a secret. Go to the east side of the reef. Don’t have to be right on it but up from him. Drop some shrimp or anything down and load up on those 4 inch croakers. Go to beach side of reef. Not on the reef just inshore of it. You will stack up the flounder.

Back to the original question for a moment: I live on the ICW just west of daymark 18, and while I have been able to keep myself stocked with finger mullet, the schools seem fewer and farther between for the time of year, and the fish are smaller. We see lots of folks casting across from us from the creek west a quarter mile or so.

Mullet are smaller and took forever to get in thick for us at HB this year. They are in now and the smaller sizes are cruising the ICW shore at lower tides while the larger sized ones are a little closer to the ICW middle. Seem to be swimming in separate schools depending on size. Few local deep creeks that have them stacked up but the info above should help out to get you on them. Good Info on the flounder too! Lots of big ones eating small pogies and croakers!

They were hit and miss in June while we were down in June. We had to ride for them but ended up filling up the livewell with good sized flounder mullet.
