Default I give up

Came down to Holden a few days this week, wind blowing like hell. Gotta leave tomorrow and coming back next weekend. Of course Monday-Wednesday look epic. Same thing happened a couple weeks ago. Lots of time off this summer but none of it has matched good weather.

A man can only reorganize tackle so many times!

Welcome to Carolina. The land of the summer southwest wind. Everyday at 2pm it blows 15-20 out of the Southwest.

Winds will die down a little in August as a rule but too dang hot to fish. That also depend s on how many hurricanes choose to hit this area as well.

Fear not, I'll be in town Sunday so surely next weeks forecast will not hold.

As some wise person told me a while back, "The Wright brothers didn't choose this area by accident...".

NC is a tough place to make a living working in the saltwater be it commercial or entertaining recs. There are reasons why Cape Fear and Cape lookout got their names plus Cape Hatteras is just as rough if not rougher. Did anyone mention Oregon Inlet?

John if you want to go fishing you are just going to have to quit listening to the wx reports and leave before daylight

I'm 200 miles inland, this week has been nothing but random thunderstorms . If you don't like the weather, just wait a few hours that what we say around here.

IM not alone! haha! Tied a bunch of rigs Thursday loaded boat yesterday. Drove to Wilmington(200 miles). Ate at Arbyís, checked the forecast and beach cam. Didnít trust it. Drove home . Water is calm! Canít win! Moving down soon. Too stressful being so far away!😂😂
Weather hasnít been friendly!

You guys would love "Waiting for Godot."

124 miles inland, we don't have that expression, but possibly that's because we're in the middle of a North Carolina summer and in a few hours it will still be hot and humid, and a few hours after that, too...until mid-September.

John,

Not much I can add, we all face the same thing, but being at HB is still better than being on Lake Tillery this weekend with it looking like the ICW on July 4th. Riding jet ski rattled my teeth. SEA YA soon. Charlie

Same problem, long drive. At Holden all last week, only went out on Wednesday. Even swimming on the beach with kids we took a beating.

Oh man....I don't miss fishing the mid Atlantic in a small boat. 70 mile runs and hardly ever calm. Yeah...the fishing can be great but damn....it's definitely a young mans game up there unless you have a Mil floating around for a fishing rig.

My in-laws lived in Atlantic Beach and wife and I here in the Bull City. I would always complain to my father-in-law about never getting a calm day to fish when we would run down for the weekend. His response would always be, "The wind don't blow on Wednesdays!" And for the most part, he was right!
