Default 100/400 sunday

Made the trip out yesterday just like last weekend no real weedlines to be found. So I threw on a #1planer with a ballyhoo rig behind it just to try and we were hooked up within 5 minutes. Ended up the day with 8 decent mahi mostly off the small planers. But man sunday fishing and having to work monday is gonna suck, we go home around 1:30 this morning after all the chores were done

Nice work! We were 100/400 Sunday also. Pushed off to the deep and then back into blackjack. It was hard with the scattered grass and no hard lines

The older I get, the tireder I am on the day after offshore fishing. However, the daydreaming about the previous day of fishing is just as enjoyable as ever.

Plenty of meat there. Great catch and thanks for the report!

I havent seen allot of reports lately so I figured I'd post our weekend find. Do any of you use a planer offshore or mostly a downrigger? I thought getting the bait down deeper since there was no weeds for shade would help and I guess it did.

yes we always have a planer bait down. typically we run a number 8 or 12. yesterday was the first day in a long time we didn't get a single bite on the planer

Had a hoo yesterday and Both a hoo and a big Bull last week on the deep line. Always have something deep. We ran a 48oz high speed type rig with 30ft of mono and instead of running a HST lure, we ran a big black and orange islander baited with a ballyhoo. Works great and easy to get in clearing stuff. Works for us, not sure how deep it goes but it’s produced and very easy to change out the lure to a HST if you get up and roll trying to find a new area. Get out there guys! This was boated with the pitch bait spinning rod. I was on the gaff and had a horrible shot but meat in the boat is better than swimming away! Fished 100/400 and BJH yesterday and 100/400 last week. 12/13 fish both days. Yesterday was tough with the weeds but we caught fish from 130-450ft
