Default Harkers Island public ramp - Be careful!

For those that haven't used the ramp since Flo came through last fall, it's really shallow between the bridge and the ramp. The buoys are there but it's really skinny. We found out the hard way last Tuesday afternoon when we were trying to pull our mess out. I was easing up in there and it was close to low tide and got hung up. Was able to push off and tried again a little outside the buoys and it was no better. Some local guys were putting in with a skiff and saw me struggling. They led me through to the ramp but I had to run it wide open keeping to the left a little with the engines trimmed out as far as I could. Still rubbed the bottom but made it to the ramp. It's fine around the ramp. It's just really shallow between the buoys towards the bridge. I wouldn't try it again unless it was "hoi toide". Thanks to those fellows that helped me out! With Memorial Day and summer coming on, it's going to be a shit-show around there.

Agree, plus there is a "hump" at low tide that is about 1 1/2 feet..........best never to use this ramp unless you want to tear your stuff up.

Yep, it has shoaled up just about completely. You can see it pretty good from up on the bridge.
