I'd bet right after someone at the top at Contender sees this thread and it occurs to them the public is not as dumb as they anticipated.

Now, the issue is why are they being offered in tournaments as real "cash like" prizes. people will gladly accept a 5k voucher after spending 800 bucks in a tournament and hope to sell them for 2500.. problem is, they have no value..

So when will they stop offering them as prizes??
As soon as people know they are BS and rip them up on presentation instead of having their pictures taken with them.

Don't get me wrong. I love these boats but I'll call a spade a spade.

If they hold true cash value, then Contender should step up and buy the voucher back fromt the OP for the price of his voucher ... Seems fair to me, since you stated the Voucher is as good as cash..

What is the problem with that?

For the posts suggesting that those without a dog in the fight not comment, it says in plain English that these instruments are transferrable. The fact that anyone can obtain them means anyone has the right to weigh in. Even after a couple of posters referenced that this stunt has taken Contender off their list of prospective new boat purchases, ContenderBoats still posts the same boilerplate response. Sad. They have spent a long time building a reputation and it would be a travesty to see that reputation ruined by something like this. How hard would it be for them to add up the value of vouchers out there, approximate the likelihood of how many will actually be used, and approximate a payback to the dealers for redeeming these after negotiation. It seems like that would make everyone happy, buy the company a huge amount of goodwill, probably cost them less than a couple hundred grand and, in the long run, end up profiting the company with increased sales. Come on Contender, step up to the plate and do the right thing!

Personally, I like the Contender-bot that keeps copy/pasting its response. Someone call the number, and detail the conversation.

I now work for a Contender dealer (Gulf Shores Power Sports) and have a customer considering ordering a Contender using a voucher. I contacted Contender last week about how we could cash in on the voucher and Contender offered us a discount below our normal dealer cost.

I gather that if dealers are not passing on the discount as intended Contender wants to know. So, it is apparent that the vouchers do hold real value and that Contender does support these vouchers on the backend by providing a discounted purchase price to the dealer which is intended to be carried over to the voucher holder.*

The answer is maybe.

Yes or no - is the voucher in question being used against MSRP?

Yes or no - was the customer able to negotiate a price and then tell you they were using a voucher?

This customer has negotiated a price that I will now discount further because Contender now lowered our dealer cost. He will be getting a better deal on the boat because of the voucher. I will pass the discount on to him.

Is the "discount" the same monetary value as the voucher or do they "offer" less value to you, the dealer, for their voucher's face value? I.e. - $5,000 voucher is actually $5,000 off the dealer cost

Good questions. I would like to hear the answers as well.

Also, I'd like to ask another. Are you allowing the full voucher amount to be discounted off the negotiated price?

Willing to part with it at a cost of shipping to see if it has value to my local dealer?
