Gorgeous Regulator!

Question if I may, the open transom look like it never had a door, was that how they came from the factory? Did it ever cause you any issues?

What is the difference between a Regulator 23 and a Regulator 23 II?

Good question. I bought the boat used over 10 years ago so I am not quite sure. I was told it was the "2nd revision" of the 23 but have never had that confirmed.

It came that way from the factory. Evidently transom gate was an option. Never an issue although I kept saying I wanted to install a removable gate. Having the open transom was a benefit for the type of fishing we do in her. We fish trout in the gulf in 15-20 ft of water at energy platforms and being able to sling them over the transom makes it easy to land them. The majority of the fishing in her is for speckled trout out in the gulf which ends up being about a 30 mile run for us. The good news is that I have about 10 miles of mostly fresh water that I run through on the way back in that helps keep the motor flushed.

30” shaft is what is standard for single on that boat. I added the jack plate in order to try to raise the engine slightly and also put it in cleaner water. Performance improved with the jack plate.
