Default Wtb: budget skiff for a teenage boy in Florida

I've got a 14 y.o. that is asking to take the boat out by himself with his friends. I can't turn him loose with our 22' family boat even though he's a good kid. I'm looking for a whaler or McKee or similar 13-15' skiff. Rough around the edges is preferable as I'm trying to keep the budget down. Anyone have a lead or a project sitting around? I'm in central Florida on the east coast but will travel around the state.

I have a small McKee that I would like to get ride of. It's in Violet Louisiana. PM me if you might be interested. It's probably gonna be in your budget.

I have a side console Scout Sportfish 141 with a 25 Yamaha that I'm waiting to sell. The hull and motor are a 1992 and the galvanized trailer is a 2010. We're asking $3500 and it's located in Charleston, SC. PM me if interested.

Seems like a jon boat would be perfect. Beat em to death, they are cheap. Takes small power to run good.

Ya, It looks like a really nice boat that's not how we roll. Above my paygrade. I'm still driving a 2004 4runner with 250k miles cause it runs great and a 1972 classic Mako. Jawz seems to have all the stuff I want. He had a sweet inboard that I wanted too.

PM sent, that boat looks really nice, likely above what we want to spend but worth a shot.

For 2K and under, 14' aluminum boats with older tillers are common. I have one and its a terrific all around beater.

If you are considering jon boats, I have a new 10' Alweld and a barely used Tohatsu 9.8 4Stroke that I bought for an ARGO. The Alweld has never been in the water and the Tohatsu twice. The issue is the Alweld has a 20" transom and the Tohatsu has a 15" shaft. I have a lowering bracket and a trailer. I was thinking 3k once I put it all together, but since they are leftover from my ARGO project they are not getting a lot of attention. If you are interested shoot me an offer. might be able to find something like this with a 25hp that will fly if you look around. I had access to a Jon boat with a 25hp and it was awesome. A friend in college had one too and he would crush reds in mosquito lagoon with it. Fashioned a push pole out of pvc and got down to business

This might interest you. 14' skiff I had re-done in 2009 adding 2008 Merc. 20hp 4-stroke. hasn't been used much lately. This photo was when it had just come from paint. It does have some wear since then mostly due to sun. I'd take $3K for it (not less) if you have any interest. Includes trailer.
PM me if you want more info.
