Default Livewell pump turns on but no water?

I have two livewells and two pumps both feeding from the same thru hull. Both of the pumps turn on but dont pump any water. Any one have any ideas what the problem would be? Or should i not waste my time and just buy new pumps

2 pumps from same thru hull and no water would usually indicate a thru hull in the closed position....i am sure you checked that, but all you would need to do is pull the pick up line off to see if water was getting thru....i doubt it is blocked. are they cartridge pumps?

Prime it by filling the piping with water from the live well nozzle then give her a try. Also do you get flow from the water pick up when running?

Had boat where either had to prime at launch or get running, turn pump on and then it would pump water all day.

I have to prime mine occasionally. If it is already in the water I use a hose to back feed water down the output and cycle on/off.

Not much detail OP. However in addition to previous suggestions make certain the outlet in the live well is open.

We purchased a boat and the seller told me the live well didn't work the way the pump was configured. Turned out he just didn't know the LW outlet turned in to restrict flow and was turned all the way in.

Good luck, I suspect the solution will be simple. Sure hope you don't need pumps.

I have a saltwater washdown pump connected to that thru hull and it also turns on and doesn't pump water. So i am assuming the thru hull is clogged?

If the pumps are mounted below the water line and you have a scoop pick up, they should fill while under way unless valve is closed or intake is clogged.
If pumps are above water line you may have to prime the pump line

I wet slip my boat and have to clear the inside of the thru hulls of growth all the time or else that happens, pump runs but doesn't move water. Get a round brush and check them.
