Default Anchor winch or windlass on small cc boat

Looking to install a winlass on my 18' cc. Was wondering if anyone had done so on theirs and if they could share pictures and model of which winch / windlass they used. See them often on bigger boats and would like to add the comfort of dropping anchor without having to go to the bow locker every time. Thanks.

I used to have a 17 caper horn which had a windlass

I bought it like this but it seemed to work alright. The previous owner used an electric trailer winch (covered). Wasnt the best ever, but sh*t it worked really well.

I asked the same question a little while ago, and got a couple responses. I was pretty hot on the Trac Saltwater Electric 45SW winch for awhile, but after a few comments/reviews kinda kept looking. PowerWinch has a couple winches as well, but none rated for salt-water. (Interesting idea about modifying a trailer winch for an anchor, I just happen to have one... hmmmm....)

Not sure I'm ready to dedicate that much $$ to step up to a real windlass so I'm still looking. Just watch tho, I'll probably change my mind when I throw out my back one more time.

Be interested to see what you get for comments/suggestions. Good luck!

Quite a while ago I added a windlass to a 22' Pursuit I had. It already had an anchor locker so it was a fairly easy install. I selected a Simpson Lawrence Sprint 600. I don't think SL is in business any longer. I looks like Lewmar bought them.

I selected the SL 600 because it was a fairly fast drop and it didn't need a control box to operate it. A simple DPDT switch and #10 wire got the job done. It looks like the Lewmar 700 has replaced the SL 600. I see a couple of them on ebay for under $600. If you have an anchor locker, I'd scoop up one of those. I'd never own another boat without a windlass.

x3 makes anchoring a breeze.just make sure to use enough chain with your rode and you will be a star.and make sure you get freefall.this is on my winter to do list.
