Hi folks,
I’ve been putting this off for too long... there’s a lot of slop at bushing 18 in the pic...
thinkin with the engine all the way down and jacking up the trailer til the skeg grounds out , then run a strap around the engine tied to the stern cleats... then remove sleeve 15 and hope the engine doesn’t end up on my garage floor...
would appreciate any thoughts.....

Mine has a lot of slop too.
It seems like pulling the motor off of the transom with an engine lift is probably the easiest and safest way to do it in the long run. The way you are thinking leave a lot of room to mess something up as you really have no control of the motor once it's loose. If you pull the motor off you are then just removing half of the bracket off of the motor vs removing half of a bracket with a 350lb motor attached to it off of the other half attached to the transom. At least on my boat there is enough extra slop in the rigging that I think I could leave it all connected and still pull the motor out far enough to disassemble the bracket.
