Default Contender Live Well Help

I have a 1999 Contender 25 Open with a transom live well. When Its full and sit it slowly leaks. When I run with the drain closed (filled with bait) it overflows to the point it spills on the deck and soaks everyone sitting on the beanbags.

my question is this normal? It would be nice to have a high drain so it never runs out of the lid, and I guess my bottom seacock is leaking when I sit and bottom fish. I have to turn on the live well pump every 30 mins, it keeps the bait fresh but can be annoying.

You might have to seal is properly. Does it have a gasket?

you should have a small gap in the gasket on the back of the livewell so that overflowing water flows out towarsd the splashwell. if the lid is open, it will spill unless there are no waves or other movement. why do you close the drain when running?

Mine will leak through the fill lines. I usually only run 1 pump at a time and the unused line would drain, sometimes sucking smaller shrimp. I added check valves on each line and it took care of the problem.

Default Livewell

Can’t help you with the leak but you may need to adjust your latch so that the lid will be tighter on the gasket when you close and latch it
