Default Gelcoat or paint?

Hi Everyone
Being new to boating I messed up my hull quite a bit. I was beaching like many others but wasn't aware of how much I scratched up my hull. Lesson learned! I will get a keel guard now but would like to fix the damage first.
Can anyone give advise for this Yamaha boat? Do I need to apply a gelcoat? Or is this just paint that came off? It loks like under the black its white and the dark brownish.
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks

You have to post ten times before you can post a picture. Good luck with the scratches. There are enough experienced boaters on here, someone should know without the pics.😂

Likely gelcoat, especially if you see grooves/scratches - but yes pics would be more helpful.

I'm thinking gel coat as well. You should be able to get a color code from the manufacturer to get a good match.

From your description "under the black" it sounds like you have black bottom paint on it and that's what got scratched off? If that is the case then the scratches didn't get into the laminate and probably just revealed the original gel coat. Spot paint or repaint the entire bottom with black bottom paint and be done with it.

It sounds like you're talking about the black antifouling paint on the bottom of the boat beneath the water line. Does anyone know if we can just touch up paint the areas where needed or is there extensive prep that should be done? My boat also has a number of spots where the black antifouling paint is gone or scratched off. I'd like to touch it up as much as I can without taking the boat off the trailer.
