HaHa I coached for many years and had a nick name for every kid. Justin became either Mr. Intime or Mr. Case.

I had a 24' Blackfin that I fished out of OC. and spent a good bit of time on a 28' Topaz. Your boat is a little less V than the Blackfin, but I am sure it will give you a good ride. What motor do you have in her? Always like the look of Topaz.

Really cool boat. I love these inboard center consoles. I'm jealous because yours has a cabin as well!

I have owned a 1990 Bimini since I bought it new in 91. Bimini broke away from Topaz and built the 24 and the 29. I am on my second engine and plan to keep my Bimini. Initially mine came with a big block 454 Volvo. After 2000 plus and hours I replaced it with a crusader 6.0. when I see what it would cost to replace mine with something similar, I get sticker shock. Love my Topaz/ Bimini.
If you have any questions about the boat and if I could help I would gladly do so. Best of luck with your restoration.

Tight lines and safe returns,

Did you recore the foredeck? If so, do you have any pictures of the process? Is the motor brand new?

Yes I did recore major portions of the bow deck. Reason for this is because the anchor was stored up there and it’s holding brackets were not properly sealed and leaked water into the core. I will have a bunch of photos up soon. Yes the motor is new it has 4 hours on it currently and that all during sea trial.

Here she is post sea trial.

The boat looks great. What did you use for paint? Did you paint it yourself or have someone paint it?

thanks! Hull and topsides are awlgrip Snow White, the bootstripe is Rochelle red awlcraft 2000, and the cabin is awlgrip insignia white. I painted it mostly all myself including all of the nonskid. Ironically the only thing I didn’t paint was the cabin

What did you do for the exhaust outlet? Glass in fiberglass tube? Do you have any sort of an exhaust flap?

i glassed and faired in a fiberglass Y pipe that is two 4” inlets on a 45 degree angle to a 5” outlet. In the boat there are two 4” Centek mufflers, one coming off each exhaust riser

thank you! I sure hope it can kill some fish. I wanted to make the boat as simple as possible, as the old saying goes “less is more”.

Great rebuild. How does it ride into chop with that extreme reverse chine ? My hull (delta conic) has a few of the same characteristics.

I'm honestly not sure yet. Planning to splash her for summer season in early May when I get back from Florida. I am planning on posting a few more pics of the rebuild process here shortly in sections.
