Get your jobs done right the first time.
If you want a place that cant do this then do not use them.
Take your chances elsewhere.
Nothing will be resolved from this. Just might help avoid another issue like this with a future customer.
Good luck.
So did you ask for a discount or not?

If it was my boat I’d come to some arrangement. Brian foots the time to drive down, IM foots the diesel and lunch? Guess I just hate to see a slow motion wreck happen when it can be avoided. Brian you need anything else done to the boat? The panel is not in place of your liking? Have IM cut you a deal on a move. Wrong panel? Talk about pricing you a new one.

Need a tune up? Wax and buff? Trailer bearings? Trailer wiring?

To be fair - I’d probably be pissed if my dash came out crooked sounds like IM should have come to Miami and fixed it but did right thing in end.

Well...looks like they know how to do it 'right'...
New 28 whitewater

Were you given a cost for flush vs not flush? IMM suggested that the existing switch panel 'recess' was cracked...if it is...did he give you a cost for repairing it?

Did you specify where to put keys?

I don’t take Brian as a dB, he just wants his service done correctly. I dont take IM as the bad guy ither, just a communication problem (probably due to being very busy) and a tech that was to close to his work instead of backing up a second to eye the panel square to the console instead of the floor.

a recessed panel would work better for space.

Not true:

1. The first price break you asked for was before you brought the boat here. I treated this as negotiating and not sure if it constitutes a discount.

2. The second discount was you where doing a bunch of work and would we "Do it for this $"

3. The third discount was your Instagram promo.

4. The 4th discount was "I am paying cash"

Sounds to me that IM is totally doing the right thing. I personally don't think I would expect a shop to send a mechanic 1.5 hours each way plus the time to repair - that would pretty much take that tech out of the shop for the entire day. I would be thrilled that the shop is willing to give me priority at the shop seeing as I dropped the boat there initially

My experience with IM on my re-power is that they delivered my admittedly simple job on time as promised. Mike was very willing to work around my schedule as reasonable since I was driving from south Dade.

I had a couple minor issues which I did not notice until over a week later and since I was swamped at work, I did not bring the issues to IM's attention until several weeks later. Mike told me to let him know when I wanted to bring it in and he would arrange the shop schedule to have my boat prioritized so I could wait for it. I brought it and immediately had the tech on my boat to get it done quickly easy no questions asked.

I can't see asking IM to have their tech drive down to Miami for this, it just wouldn't be a reasonable request. I spoke to a few customers while I waited and all seemed happy with their experience with IM. I will continue to give my business to IM, they seem to do everything to ensure a customer is happy.

I don't know where the disconnect is with the OP but it just doesn't square with my dealings with Mike or IM. If it is just simply that IM wouldn't send a tech, I don't think that is reasonable. How would it work, the OP describes the issue and maybe sends a few pics. IM assumes what needs to be fixed and sends a tech only to find out they need a different part or tool than expected. The tech has to return to IM, get the part, return to the OP? Not happening with custom work, this has to be done in the shop.

And again after? I love how people try to get discounts by saying they can help one's business. It is a crock of shit.

The funny part if you left out a few details. When you picked up the boat you called me and said you love the way it came out and asked me if you could get a discount if you posted about your experience on your Instagram page (OSHINE). You indicated you had about 500,000 followers. I respectfully declined your offer, but you had no mention of any issue or anything. Now after 2 months of you having your boat a thread is started because your a knob got loose on your steering wheel. Does not sound right to me but either way I will fix it for you at no charge. Please know I would have preferred you mention it at the time of pick up and if it was in fact crooked or not perfect in anyway I would have addressed it then for you.

No appointment needed, I will personally ensure you are not having to wait as your time is valuable.

Mike
This is where ole Brian looses me. A discount for posting on IG? Come on Brian?? Somebody always looking for the cheap. Straighten out your own panel.

If a boat will run on a 140 but has a max of 200, and the owner for reasons of cost or ignorance goes for the 140 to only find out he can't get it on plane, would we expect the installer to de-rig, remove, and reinstall and rig a new motor for nothing?

A major project like this I personally would have been online looking at multiple console layouts until I saw what I wanted, then told Mike, I WANT THIS! and give him the picture.

if the console insert hasnt been thrown out maybe get an estimate to repair it so it can be reused, looks like the existing panel can then just be cut down to fit inside of it

It is a brands Instagram with 143000 current subscribers. Far from a standard personal page.. a page all about boating lifestyle... Exchanges promotion for service/product quite often actually.
@Oshineflorida is the Instagram

I am done arguing with IM though. It is a battle of statements now, which is besides the point of what I was told could be done and now goes back on their word.

Man, THT has taught me that there are LOTS of folks that I wouldn't want as a customer out there. Good grief.

You pick up work, approve of it and love it.....then you decide after all you don't like the design you ordered and you also notice something small enough not to have caught your eye, and raise a conniption fit because you have to, gasp, take it back to have it addressed!!

And, what a funny coincidence, this occurs after he declined your offer for a discount for a social media promotion.

Sounds like you follow the Michael Avenetti business plan.
