Personally I could care less about anything that has to do with your experience at IM.
Id just like to know what you do for a living that youíre too busy to take a day off but have time to be on THT all day long?

This is an instance of a company coming on and really helping the situation. It really comes out like the OP was angry he got turned down for his generous offer to post on his IG page so instead decided to come here to hurt his business. He even added more "bitches" during the post, notice the lost key showed up about half way through the thread.

On cash, I hope to get good will from the company when I do that. I'm at least saving them the CC fee and hope they will remember that when I come back. I don't expect any discounts, but I do hope to get "preferred" treatment. Only time it bit me in the ass was with Fab Tech in Daytona... really wish I had paid with anything I could have cancelled or fought.

Someone once told me the cheap toilet paper was better.. I knew better.

Youíve made yourself look foolish. Accept it.

I Guess IM is just one of those vendors you either love or hate...

Sounds like they are spread too thin.
This happened to me, only I gave a deposit and was told they would schedule me for an install. Waited and waited, called Steve and his wife, left messages but never returned. Ended up getting engines at another place couldn't be happier. Also, used deposit some time later for a switch panel rather than trying to get it returned. They never even questioned why I didn't proceed with the install.

This is kind of true. At least they are willing to fix it, maybe the publicity on this forum both good and bad have something to do with it. OP, just take it back and get it fixed. After that you can choose to continue to do business with them or not.

Aesthetically it looks better flush than recessed, and matches the screens area too.

But no, I wouldn't want it down there either.

That said, your argument "that he should have talked you into doing it different than he suggested" is not a valid argument.

You are essentially asking IM to do some advertising on your IG page for a fee. How much do you think such advertising is worth? I would think if IM wants to do some advertising, it would be on a venue a little more effective than your IG page. For some reason, I get the feeling you would haggle over the price of a senior drink at McDonald's. Every retailer/service company has pricing. If they were to negotiate the pricing for everyone, why have pricing in the first place? Why would a retailer even have price tags? How do you know you received a fair price if you negotiated a price? Why ask for a cash discount? Do you think any moral business person simply stuffs the cash in their pocket without paying sales tax or recording such a payment? Would you actually do business with any company willing to do that? Geez!!!!!!!

Whether or not they charge you for the tax is up to them, but they do have to pay or run the risk of running afoul of the state government. Why can't everyone simply ask for a price, and if they want to pay it, great. If not, move on. Some, not all actually get mad when a company does not agree to their self proclaimed price. Do you go through this process at the grocery store?

Is IM not doing mobile service anymore?

OP don't sweat it, lots of THT fanboys having fun with ya. Like I said, they installed the key in the basic same spot on my boat and wished they hadn't.

1) Mike did not give me any advice on placement of panel, just recessed or flush. I said flush sounds good enough.
2) When I got there Mike just stayed in office, 'yes boat out there' No help, I get out to boat and job is still not finished. (Had to have someone finish it while I was there)
3) Mike lost my ignition key with old switch panel (Was keyless for 2-3 weeks as they never sent one to me) Not the biggest deal since boat was in another shop for a while anyways. But still not professional..
4) I caught the panel was crooked right after arriving to the next shop down in Miami and called Mike to tell him the issue. (Mike then stated he will come down to fix it once boat is back at my house, that they come down to Miami all the time)
5) My knob fell off, not IM fault. Okay but I still disclosed the issue to them..
6) I call Mike today and say hey boat is back at my house, when would best time be for your guy to come resolve this? There answer was no we can not come down. Bring boat here.
7) I told them my concerns with having to take day off and how I live down in Miami and how they told me already they would come to my house to resolve this... basically left that phone call with nothing but oh well touch luck..

You can nit pick certain things, but all of this together really rubbed me wrong way.

All I would like to have done is have a tech come down fix crooked panel (like Mike previously told me) and fix the steering wheel.
You're starting to sound like the Parker owner who wanted Parker to come down to Fla and pick up his boat to make it right. Drop the attitude, take the boat in and let em fix it. This ain't a perfect world.

"I'll pay you cash" interpretation - I'll help you commit tax fraud, a felony, if you want to hide it and not report the income on your tax returns. You'll be able to do the job for a lot less since you won't have to pay income tax on it. Or, you won't have to report it on your sales tax returns so you won't have to charge me sales tax. Now if you get caught....

The extent some people go through to simply save a buck or two is amazing. Then when they don't get their way, they run to a social media venue to tattle. I suppose it makes them feel a little better about themselves.

Iím so glad that we sold our boatyard in the early 80ís. This thread was a reminder of the small percentage of customers that can really try your patience. Thank god there was no internet. My old man had the finess of a wrecking ball

that goes for any other vendor in this forum as well

I will DM you some pics for just the shirt or gift card

Amen! My old man was a "FU" type of diesel mechanic! Growing up up the oil field during the boom in Texas, everybody was a "FU" train wreck. I could only imagine what would be on the internet..lol

for what it's worth, i've never once had an issue with the key in that location. I much prefer it, actually, so I don't have to stare at or deal with the dangly bits on the dash all of the time. If it wasn't recessed, then yes, I could imagine issues.
Doesn't Norm at Whitewater put the keys there when he builds the panels?

here's my boat with the stock panel...

We have been doing some lately with the key in the console. We can split the lanyard and leave it on the dash as we are engraving the legends anyway. If you zoom into Coores new panel you can see we remove the stock plate that is provided by the engine manufactures. I like it much better this way. It looks a lot more custom.
