Good luck hurricane Andrew destroyed the molds in the early 90's. Every so often you see one pop up for sale. I have a 21 contender and would have loved to have found a used Speedcraft 20, bigger beam. My old man had a couple Speedcrafts built, a 25 in 1974 and a 20 in 1986. They still build the 25 I believe....

Rickster,
thanks for the info,
Angel from Caribbean craft told me he could build one, I'm just curious on wether the model is similar to the originals,

I went to see a used one today, that is one deep V! For all the shit I want to put on it, financially its nearly worth just buying a new hull,

They still have the molds, I ran one a few years back for a little bit with a buddy and it was a nice running hull, just did not self bail. Flat deck and a three piece hull, really nice little boat. Have you also considered the 21 Paramount that they now build?

I realized their 20' model they currently offer is more like a Paramount than the original 20 speedcraft looking for that beam, deep v and high gunwhale

If I'm not mistaken, there is a project Speedcraft for sale on THT but I believe it's a 25.
Big Sea likes this.

Ok for the sake of sharing info,

Paramount/Speedcraft boats as in Caribbean craft out of Hialeah FL have a mold for a 23 speed craft but they can shorten it to 21/20 if need be, im still studying the possibility of buying the hull from them and rigging it myself,
I am going to go see the shop and get a feel for them, their prices are very reasonable and i'm surprised they don't have a following like competition boats,

Great guys that build solid boats, they’re just a small operation, do repairs as well as new builds, whatever needed.

I have always said this, if they had the advertising/etc they would have the following like competition. Like Sundance has said they always built a solid boat.

Pls post results? I could be VERY interested in a 23 shortened to 20 as well, minimally rigged, commercial finish.

My brother in law as a well as a close friend each had an original 20’. They are an awesome ride wide beam boat. Negative is that these boats were originally built prior to the high horse power 4 stroke motor days. 225 was the largest hp available. They each went through several motors due to weight width and length. Today the older boats would do well but I would run nothing less than 250 hp.

The original speed crafts were 24. Now 25. The decks in all of the older boats eventually need replacing mostly built a lot of wood and glass.

Find an older 20' Formula by Thunderbird. They had a 24 degree deadrise at the transom and a 8' beam.
You would have to convert it to an open fisherman, the 20' Formulas were closed in at the bow. For there size they had a fantastic ride.
