Default Mercury Smartcraft gauge SC1000 Trim alarm?

Hi Guys
Sorry this might be a bit of an open ended question but yesterday took the family out on the boat to Indian River after a four month layoff and after a great day started heading back towards the boat ramp and I notice my motor (Merc Optimax 200hp 2004) start changing speeds on me then the gauge had a trim alert and the trim display was all over the place, never had an issue before like this and still very new to boating so apologies if I am lacking detail but anyone ever have an issue like before and 2nd I have never had the engine serviced since I bought it last September so really need to get it looked over, can anyone recommend a repair company in Central Florida? I don't mind doing things myself and will learn the basics but I think it really needs a pro to give it the once over..thank god I was near the ramp or I could have been calling out a tow company!

Thank you all

Stuart

Watch the trim gauge when you are sitting at the dock. Trim all the way up and then all the way down.

I suspect your trim sensor needs to be replaced and that should be easy.

If the trim sensor is faulty and giving erratic readings, it can cause the PCM to put the engine to go into power reduction if it ‘sees’ the engine trimmed too high.

Mercury’s website contains a dealer locator. Use it to find your nearby dealers. Set the filters on the side to find CSI Service Award winning dealers. Mercury hands out around 240 CSI customer service awards each year to their top customer rated dealers in the country.

If in the Melbourne area, take it to Boathouse Discount Marine on US1 at the turn off to Ballard Park. Steve is the service manager there, a good guy, with very good mechanics too.

Thank you guys I really appreciate the info, sounds exactly like the problem I had, will investigate that and hopefully I will be able to replace it myself.

Is there a workshop manual for these engines available online?

Thank you

Stu
