and if you read the facts in the threads you would see the owner admitted to realizing the issue one week into ownership in december but decided to push forward with his mods

The biggest mistake of my boating life was selling my Parker 2520. Parker IS a stand up company. I knew this a long time ago.

For those unfamiliar with the boat manufacturing process, correcting the measurements on Out on the Reef’s 2120 is a one-day fix. It requires us to simply release the deck, lift to make the adjustments pointed out in Out on the Reef’s video, re-install, bond the boat, replace the bumper molding, shine and finish. Out on the Reef refused this offer and asked Parker Boats for financial compensation to fix the boat himself. This request was denied. Fixing the boat in our NC plant is the only way for Parker to ensure that the next boat owner purchases a flawless boat.
I don't know boat manufacturing but I do know people and skill sets. On something like this, I guarantee they've got the right people with the right skills to converge on the thing and make it happen. You can throw people at something and make things happen. Throw enough "skilled" folks at something with a target/goal and you can move mountains. I've not only seen it but proved it in a previous job. I was literally asked by other supervisors "how we did what we did with such a small crew." I treated people right AND assigned them where they wanted to be. When the proverbial sh@# hit the fan occasionally, all I had to do was ask for help and they would make the impossible possible.

Not a Parker lover or hater , I just see a ton of them out on LIS , around Montauk and BI . Maybe I missed something in the other thread , but has even one other Parker owner said they have a boat with the same problem ?

They did essentially that. Read Linwood's letter on their website. Public Information - Parker Boats

Always have loved the look of Parker boats!

Not a single person or company is perfect.

We we all make mistakes and how you address them defines your character, honor and values.

Bravo to Parker Boats. They addressed this head on and publicly which is rare today.

Very nice response Robin, and kudos to the company for standing behind the product.

Not getting into the fray on this one, but donfind it impressive when the owner of a company and assuming their son/daughter address stuff directly vs hiding behind “corporate.” Kudos to them for addressing this head on, and I hope something reasonable can be agreed to by all parties with a minimum of heartache and expense.

Why? In the same way that the Boeing 787 and 737 -8/-9 got out of the factory with defects. Because no person(s) (or company comprised of people) is perfect.

Like Parker is doing, taking care of the customer is the first thing to be addressed. While at the same time taking action to ensure the problem does not happen again.

Default Parker support

I have a 29 year old Parker and all of my related questions have been answered promptly and accurately. That includes a request for an engineering stringer layout drawing on this 29 year old boat. I recieved it the next day along with an offer to answer any other questions from one of their engineers. Only people that care about their products and customers would go through this trouble.

I highly respect Parker as a group of people and as a boat builder!!!

Robin is his Daughter. Been at the company for a very long time. Was there when I was in HS in the late 80's.

Met both of them before. Lived 5 mins from Parker. Many hours on Parker boats.

Linwood is a great man and will talk to you about boats and a world of knowledge. He is getting up in age.

I'm sure Robin is pretty much running the show or knows everything going on a Parker.

Do you think OOTR deserves an "end all be all good gesture"? Honest question.

Never mind, Parker will do whatever it takes to make it right and then some regardless..........because that's Parker.

The response is nice. Better than other companies have done for sure. But, I have one reservation.

Why are people pretending Parker is doing him a huge favor by giving him a new boat? Let us not forget, that's what guy paid for and we should all expect. Guy is not ahead in this. He isn't getting over. He is getting offered what he paid for, months late. It's not like he used the boat for 5 years, found it and is now getting rewarded with a brand new boat. The boat is new. They're offering to give him a new one. If they did anything else they should be out of business. But let's not pretend this is some amazing customer service response.

Wal-mart would do this on $20 blender.

Agreed 100%. Before this incident I never really thought much, either good or bad, about Parker Boats. Parker was just more of a basic, no frills boat, than what I was interested in. After reading the various threads and the transparent response from Parker I have come away with a feeling of honesty and integrity that is very rare in todays society and business world. Parker Boats you have done more to elevate your reputation than you could have accomplished with tens of thousands of dollars in advertising. You deserve it and you earned it.

Why are all these people backing Parker and saying “everyone’s human” and “nobody’s perfect”? What a joke! That boats a POS, and regardless of human error it seems silly that it would even leave the factory! That’s beyond a quality control issue

What more would any reasonable person expect? I doubt there are many builders that would come close to making this offer for what is not a latent defect.

If you read the warranty or most boat warranties a new boat isn't required if the boat can be fixed.

By what you just said every outboard manufacturer should give a person a new motor when the powerhead goes

Exactly why we need to make sure we buy from good boat builders who build quality boats correctly from the factory. Parker just fell of that list with this one.

Customer is a total nut job. Anyone in sales (esp cars) has dealt with a few of these types.
