Glad to see they are willing to do what it takes to make you happy. Surprised that something like that wouldn't be caught earlier but sometimes it's hard to control your subs ( I assume pipework is not done in house).

Um... this is nuts. Having been a coach and in the Army, even a short stint as a DI... What the hell did this teach you? Dave didnt have to hit me. He just told me hull #6 is about to come out of the mold.

Dave has been great with correcting shortcomings. Remember this is the first hard top. I'm sure there are mishaps when creating something new in every boat builders shop, only difference is these builds have been very open to the tht. I think it's pretty cool.

Another change Dave was great about was moving the access for the fuel tanks so the console could be glassed into the boat. That change was from the demo boat to mine.

What's a few days to get it absolutely right?

I stopped by the shop on Sat to meet with Dave and took a look around. Got to see all the boats under build and we took Dave’s boat out for a spin. Managed to time it right between some intense showers. Even though conditions weren’t really snotty, I was impressed at how the boat handled, even with the 250s. Didn’t feel like she needed any more power, good hole shot, plenty speed and ran smooth. When we hit chop, no pounding or slamming, she leans in on turns and spins on a dime, even without i-dock.

Based on what I saw, I’m very happy to be on the build slot list. The boat will do everything I need and I’m really looking forward to laying out a design that balances family and fishing needs. Dave has lots of good suggestions and ideas. To be honest, meeting and spending time with Dave was a true pleasure and the decision to keep moving ahead is based upon my
impression of him as much as the boat.

Congrats to all of you with builds underway, each boat looks awesome. I am so impressed with each of the new features, the coffin box which is just huge, the size of the hardtop, the size of the swim platform, just so much learning being applied from one boat to the next. Eric, good call on the hardtop piping change, it would have bugged me too.

Thanks again Dave, really appreciate you spending the time with me on a Sat.

cheers!

John

Man that looks great

MarkDiaz 06-06-2019 05:23 PM

Motor numbers

What I'd give to see the numbers for the 300s on each brand. I know it's not gonna be much better than the 250s, but it's killing me like a greedy kid with presents under the tree and they all have my name on them. I want to go ahead and get that part out of the way. FOR CHRIST SAKE HURRY UP WITH THE MOTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On another note, that's some mighty fine bling bling you got going on there mister!!! Never have too many rod holders.

steelcityfishanddive 06-06-2019 06:05 PM

On dive oriented boats, I think the 300s make sense. Despite all the rod holders, I know this boat will be diving a good bit. Bigger engines working easier under heavy load. We have 300 Yamahas going on #10. I know on the Suzukis the price difference was minimal so it didn't make sense not to go with 300s. But who knows. We'll all see here shortly as various Eastwards start rolling out. Dave's backlog will be getting longer as these start entering the world.

I couldn't agree more. I'll be getting 420 gallons of fuel making long runs, and heavy loads need the extra power at cruise. Once these start fishing and pics and reports come out, his build list should grow. I'd be surprised if cost doesn't go up as well. I'm the type that would sell and correct or make changes and pay the difference. I'm hoping I'm dialing it in right.

Those 300s in the water yet?

Jumpsummo 06-06-2019 08:03 PM

2700 pounds of fuel. That's like a 1000 mile range.

I stopped by the shop today. Really neat to see everything coming together. Like 6 guys working on your boat.

I think we’re all ready to see performance numbers. Should be in the next few days as I take delivery on Friday!

You know when they are installing outriggers it is close.

I should have timed my trip better so I could have went out on her.

Jumpsummo 06-10-2019 08:12 PM

So if I go down on Wednesday-Thursday I get to ride in it before you. I can stow away in the coffin.

Diverboy264 06-21-2019 06:34 AM

Long awaited numbers!

Congrats on getting wet. I know Dave worked the crews butt off trying to get 2 stroke numbers with the 4 strokes. But they will purr quite nicely.

49 will outrun plenty of boats trying to get a better look at that fantastic looking blue cat.

Juiced50 06-21-2019 07:25 AM

I would like to see how Mercury V8's compare, is anyone going that route?

steelcityfishanddive 06-21-2019 07:30 AM

Probably not because you can't get them. Number 10 will have 300 Yams and possibly another one before we get to #10.
