DiverBoy, I am planning on putting Suzuki 300’s on my Eastward as well. I would also be interested to know the price different if you dont mind.

I can't seem to find any picture of the inside of the console. Is there room for a true marine head?

Fuel senders go on center of tank. Only way to read correct at angle. Now the hulls tide pretty flat but for absolutely accuracy center is a must.

A fuel sender at the aft end of a longitudinal fuel tank is most accurate when the tank is just about empty.

I agree that it will most likely show full until the first 15% or more of the tank is burned, but like the sender at the aft end to have most accurate readings right when it makes the difference between enough and a tow rope.

So you think being inaccurate for all angles but level but able to show some slight indication adds fuel to the tank? It's the same fuel. You just showed full when you burned x number of gallons. Wrong. When it indicated half your way was wrong because you dont have half. You have LESS than half when indicating half. You never know except full when it spits out the vent or empty when you run out if pumpable fuel.

The fill goes in the top of the tank. Preferably at the front. The measurement goes in the center as close as possible to the bottom and indicating full correctly. When it says half you have exactly half. If it said 1/8 at the end of last trip you know exactly how much fuel to add to get back to half

Accuracy at all levels means you can plan better so you aren't sucking that last 2 gallons. When the gauge works or not doesn't change the amount if fuel in the tank.

Typically the pickup won't get all the fuel out anyway so zero indication is where you can no longer draw fuel your way it indicates fuel you can't pump.

All this becomes especially important when you have far larger tanks than needed so you need accuracy in measurement in order to know how much fuel to add for the given trip.

My boat carries 300 gallons of fuel. Typical day I burn less than 100. Since 300 gallons weighs near 2000 pounds I need to know accurately where is about 75 gallons in each tank. Then I have a safety factor of 50%. I could cut it closer with more accurate measurement.

Once you leave the dock there is only "Did I bring enough". Knowing the level accurately means you can plan accurately. If all you do is fill you ski boat up and run back to the dock when near empty you dont need accuracy because you are never 44 miles out showing half a tank and half isn't enough to get home because you installed your gauge in the back and rendered it useless.

The tank in your car or truck is never that accurate either - the distance covered to 1/2 tank is more than the run to empty. But often there is a fuel station around the corner. I use fuel burned and keep a running sum of that vs what was put in to keep better track than the fuel gage. Start of season actually use ruler in tank to verify level. Something that it marked by 1/8th's level isn't meant to be accurate. When following the 1/3 spare capacity rule - being off an 1/8 isn't so bad.

Being off by 1/8 on half a tank means you spare is not 1/3. 8/24 - 3/24 = 5/24. That 1/8 is 37.5 gallons on my boat. All I'm saying is accurate is better for planning when I need to carry that 236 pounds.

I replaced my sender in 1995 Pro Line. 138 gal tank. If it indicated half I go to pump and it takes 68 gallons till I better watch out for overfill. This agreed with the meter measured fuel used exactly. Each system crossed checked. If one failed I could rely on the other.

When it indicated 10% I had 14 gallons left. 124 would fill it. Yes it was that accurate. It's safe to say accuracy in you auto is always wrong. I found out once in BF Texas I could go 12 miles past 0 because a station i expected to fuel at was closed. I don't make this mistake on the water. It's not the same.

I think way too many people put way too much importance and way too much reliability on what are nothing more than novelty gadgets especially in the case of fuel senders in boat fuel tanks, either a good fuel flow system and/or a dipstick
