Default Trim Tilt noise going down

Yamaha 90 4 stroke...At first the trim didn't work at all accept the solenoid clicking sound.. I removed the blue and green going to the motor direct from a battery and still nothing .. Tapping on the motor made it go again and after running it up and down a few times I reconnected the solenoid and it runs now accept going down it starts slow with a grunting sound. Is that a sign of low fluid or air in the fluid? Going up it sounds fine and runs as new no problem.. thanks for your thoughts.

Make sure each of the trim rams have a big gob of grease on the end of them where they contact the pad on the motor....

You will have to engage the towing bracket then run them down to get to the ends of them

Grunting sound from the cylinders just add fluid .the motor is sealed with no fluid all electric.. Just because you have to tap on the motor doesn't mean its going out .I have seen many locked up and last years before doing it again. The ones i see lock up and need Tappin on are the ones that sit and aren't used frequently.. imo the motor are usually under 100 bucks and it is off season so good time to replace if you have no confidence in it.

757 is right. "Go down" problems will be low fluid as often as not. All of the fluid is in the cylinders when the engine is tilted up and the pump is starving.
Banging on the motor is to free up a stuck brush. It may get better or not depending on why the brush is sticking.
