Default Nautical Chart Wall Mural?

looking for a large wall mural of a nautical chart. looking at nauticalchartsonline.com and it looks pretty good...but wondering if anyone has any experience they want to share? just going to be a decorative piece to give a blank wall a little character.

How large? It maybe possible for fatheads.com to make one out of a picture you provide. Few friends have their kids rooms decked out with fat heads. Itís cool and easy

I got some from the Coast Survey Historical Map Collection

https://historicalcharts.noaa.gov/hi...age/542-7-1922

I told them what size I wanted. I''m not sure how big they can go

not totally sure. maybe something like 4' x 5' or I'm also seeing you can get 'wallpaper' made from charts and do an entire wall. not comfortable having something made from a photograph. seems like it has to be some type of scalable vector file (I'm no expert though)?

If you can get a file for it any sign company that does wraps should be able to make you one.

Ordered mine from Amazon, got some foam core from the dollar store, some spray adhesive, and 1x4 cedar from HD for the frame. Cheap rustic look lol. But itís only about 40Ēx40Ē, not sure if they have bigger. Paradise Cay Publications was the printer.

My wife took some poster size maps and he them framed for a nice look. Sometimes when I get drunk I'll stand there and look at them.

Hmmm, ...... maybe that's an idea for the hundred or so charts I have of all over the world. My neighbor was cleaning out his barn,.... his dad was the navigator aboard "Eagle" (U.S.C.G. training ship), and I ended up with all his old charts.

Those are beautiful. An outfit in Annapolis does something similar.

I second the wood charts. Not sure who makes them, but available several locations. It's 3D laser cut wood showing the depths, etc.

They have a few different sizes. Absolutely beautiful and unique.

Lightbulb Map Mounting

This is what I did. I took purchased the NOAA chart for the entrance to the Cape Fear River and cut-out a section of another NOAA chart showing more detail of Oak Island. Took the two chart items to a local framer and had the Oak Island pasted on to an area of realitively less significance to me and both charts were framed and now hangs in the dinning area of our house on Oak Island.

Notice the Oak Island detail in the lower right of the Cape Fear entrance chart.
You can obatin the charts online from the NOAA website and they will send the chart to your address.

I used nauticalchartsonline to make me a chart for my counter top. I had a very good experience with that company. I used the wall mural option to make the chart the size I wanted it. There is an on line sizing tool that works great. The chart came quickly and it was very nice. I'll put up a picture of how nice the counter came out when I get home this evening.
