Viking announced three new MPYD CC V-hulls will be added to their lineup, bet they could get a real good deal on the MPYD 40 Cat design. Vectorworks would probably even make them a reasonable offer on the molds that have been sitting around, taking up space? Wouldn't help Ray and the rest of the folks that got screwed get their money back, but at least the project wouldn't be relegated to the dustbin of boatbuilding history.

My boat was destroyed by hurricane charley
i bought it back from the insurance company
the new owner of Shallow draft made a deal with me to use my totaled boat as a plug and in return fix it at a discounted rate
well he pulled his mold and never fixed my boat
months passed I had no clue he had abandoned it
my friend Andy who was one of the original owners in shallow draft saw the hull in Lakeland behind a wharhouse
called me and asked Ray is this you Fín boat up here laying in the weeds?
that got me making phone calls and sure enough it was
Andy said he would pick it up bring it back and see what he could do with it
he totally rebuilt it then he said how are going to register it
i had no clew didnít think that far ahead Andy said he is a boat builder he can issue a new title since he rebuilt everything and was going to start to build these 24 shallow drafts because the new owner who took over and made the deal with me originally was out of business by then
then I had it rerigged with a new 300XS tower dual stations the works
i put about 40k into it ran it for about 8 months and sold it to my framer who was working for me building a house
he new the history on the boat
I sold it to him for 35k he insured it for 60
after a few months it mysteriously caught fire
FWC called me investigating possible arson
i agreed to talk to them
told the same story to them ( my mistake)
they could not prove arson but they had issues with what Andy did issuing a new title so they concocted the story I was a king pin in a boat theft ring
it made for good reading but when the facts came out Andy and I had our charges dropped
and the guy they were investigating for arson and insurance fraud got to keep his 60k
Lesson learned for Andy and I
i did not sell as new for new price Andy did not profit either
he was helping me a friend

So Wylie is the one that plays dirty HUH???????
I was half kidding but interesting coincidence. 15 years apart with 2 new builders.

I think they offered a free set of Knives to the first 3, but you had to act quick.

Sorry to hear about this. But Kevin J. Barker has, in the county in which this suit is filed, easily accessible prior felony record of:

Burglary (structure)
Robbery
Fleeing and eluding

"Here you go Kevin - here's a quarter million bucks. Build it when you build it. I'll call you soon."

I'm sorry your having to deal with this crap Ray ! Stuff like this makes it harder for the new guys to get started in the boat business, unless you have deep pockets or want to take out a massive loan, deposits are your best bet to get rolling.

I have no dog in this fight but seems like Barker had a lot of support when started out and built a great product. Ventured to next level with top tier new design and hit road blocks. Doubt he is living carefree, but more likely working hard to take care of employees and commitments. Every successful business owner i know (myself included) has pushed, broke some rules, and faked it to make it.

no shit:the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects you against self-incrimination. If you cannot tell if you are allowed to leave, say to the officer, "I have to be on my way. Am I free to go?"
If the officer says "Yes," tell him to have a nice day, and leave immediately. If the officer's answer is ambiguous, or if he asks you another unrelated question, persist by asking "Am I being detained, or can I go now?" If the officer says "No," you are being detained, and you may be placed under arrest. If this is the case, reassert your rights as outlined above,

Talk about a bad post!

Pushing rules is one thing. Breaking them and flat out lying and stealing doesn't meet the definition of a successful business owner in my book.

It just makes you a successful crook at the expense of others!

Fair to say the same deal was made when you bought your 26 barker? I remember you being one of the first to get one and selling about a year later
