Default Marine radio AM/FM poor reception.

I have a dual branded marine radio I installed and the volume goes slightly higher and slower for about 5 seconds at a time. I thought it was the $15.00 2 ft wire antenna I had and thought it was cause it was inside the cabin. Well I just installed a 8ft Shakespeare antenna and it does the same thing. I'm starting to think it's the radio. The quality of sound isnt really that great either.

Probably the radio, if you replace it, I suggest getting one with Bluetooth, not that expensive nowadays and stream music from your phone.

It has blue tooth and a remote, although I don't use streaming. I got long antenna for offshore fishing. You lose cell service 8 miles out on my phone.

Replace the Dual with a better quality radio IMO. I don't think much of the quality of the cheap Dual Radio as I have seen many returned not working.

I just picked up a kenwood Marin radio for $80. Its in a electronics box so it wonít see any water. I have always bought marine radios from kenwood, clarion, etc. They are great if kept away from water and donít cost $$$. I looked into the high end $$$ radios and if itís away from water then why spend the money.
