I thought it was informative. I certainly won't be buying a Jupiter now.

That will do it!

but did not.

THT moderator 14 closed it. It was affecting the value of his Jupiter 43.

There was nothing obscene or against the rules to make the mod shut down this thread, besides circling the wagons. So it does make you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes?

You're right. And just between me you and the internet, when my 13 year old daughter and 7 year old daughter start arguing in circles, and Dad comes in to tell them both to just stop talking, the kids don't know Mom slipped me a few Benjamins to get the job done.

Was there anything really left to be said that hadn't been said there ad nauseum?

Should there be any information of value to the THT community, than in that case please post up an UPDATED thread.

Yeah, good call, shut down the thread that educates boaters on products they're interested in and holds this wild west of an industry just even a little bit accountable. God forbid you discuss boating issues on a boating forum, you know the exact thing this place is designed to do.

Closing a thread is not deleting a thread. The "educational" and "accountable" parts of the thread are still there for all the world to see. If you have any additional information of value to discuss, you've been invited by THT MOD 14 to start a new thread.

Closing down the thread really made no sense. Obviously, with the huge number of people viewing it, and the tremendous number of posts, THTers found the thread addictive, even if a couple thought it was "crap" or a "train wreck." Most viewers, including myself, found Jupiter's utter lack of public response to the thread and especially to the photos to be rather astonishing,, and an incredible way to destroy public goodwill in a previously well regarded brand. THT MOD 14's sudden closing of the thread -- for no apparent reason since, as MaxC rightly notes, nothing obscene or against the rules was being posted -- seems to be the result of pressure from Jupiter or its dealers. What other explanation makes sense? If people find the thread repetitive or crap, no one is forcing them to read it. Just seems very odd to me.

In any event, from the buyer's most recent Instagram post, it appears that he is in the process of suing Jupiter since Jupiter's last offer to him was that Jupiter is willing to resell the boat for him, and if there's a loss (as is more than likely), the buyer would have to take the loss. The buyer had even offered to return the boat for a full refund and was willing to take a note on the boat from Jupiter if Jupiter didn't have the cash to buy him out, but Jupiter refused. Thus, at the moment, the buyer is stuck with a boat he can't use for which he is paying storage, insurance, and money on a note himself, and is beginning a lawsuit against Jupiter.

Nah, I'll be like the other 60k views or whatever it was and just assume Jupiter didn't do the right thing and this guy got who doo'ed. What a disservice to Jupiter if they end up doing the right thing.
