Default Harrassment, Laziness or Just Doing Thier Job??

I have fished out of Destin for the past five years and store my boat in a marina off Choctowatchee Bay. The same 3 Florida Fish and Game officers there boarded my boat over 10 times in a 3 month period in FY18 and have NEVER found a single violation. My wife and I are always courteous to the law enforcement but I feel like I am being harrassed at this point. I have even asked the officers” Do you remeber checking us yesterday?” I got a reply of “we are just doing our job.” I have asked myself is it laziness on the part of the officer because they know that I am 100% legal every time they check me?? We purchased a go pro and are planning on filming every encounter after this past summer (plus filming our offshore fishing). What do you think about the situation and is it this bad everywhere else in Florida??

Here in the mid Atlantic the USCG and the local LEO give you a form after you have been boarded and successfully safety checked. You just show that form if pulled over again in the same season and they are not supposed to redo the safety check unless there is some reason to.

I have several times just waived the form from a distance and they have waved me off and wished me a good day.....

Go to Orange Beach Alabama.
Last summer I saw them more than my family that was on vacation with me.

It's like they are pissed they have to be there so they make it suck for everybody else.

Lets assume you are 100% an in the past have not given then a reason to target you. then yes seems excessive. If you had actual dates and times with offices# , I would send a nice letter upstairs. Seems excessive.
around here you get boarded maybe 1 time, you keep you paper and that's that usually for the season.

It is the dead/slow season right there in the pass. If you aren't a commercial guy your going to get looked at more. They should give you a sticker or form that you passed inspection and you show them that and good to go..if they are Coasties..... but these are game wardens not Coast Guard, so they can stop and do a resource check whenever they want.

I think Florida has something similar. Once stopped for a "safety check" they need probable cause.

hot wife? As many boats pass in/out/around Destin pass and bay, I find it hard for the FWG guys to have enough time to stop and check anybody.

During the summer, it looks like somebody kicked over an ant pile in the bay and pass.

We wont even talk about Destin Harbor and that shit show.

For a while when I kept my boat on the Potomac in the DC area (Stingray 658ZP....60-65 MPH), I would get boarded more often....but that was shortly after the USS Cole incident and my guess is that they knew that i could outrun them so I got more scrutiny.

Be glad. You have NO clue how many people are poaching these days and get away with it day after day. Wish FWC had a bigger presence down here and boarded vessels more regularly.

You must be unlucky, I'm up there all the time, have been for 25 years. Previous 2 boats had headers and NO mufflers. I got stopped once by DC Police.

I doubt it. You cant outrun a bass boat. 60-65 is nothing on the Potomac.

Face it, you look suspicious. Lol.
Yea man. I can relate. Was stopped by 3 different agencies within a period of 2 hours. After the second stop, I was ready like a Ninja with the paperwork and safety stuff.
It would be great if they could talk to each other.

I will add, that on a vessel, Law Enforcement can check you anytime. Be nice, be legal, be truthful. Be safe, y'all.

Guessing from the user name you are 47 years old?

That said, it does seem excessive.

When I was younger, I was pulled over almost every single time I left the dock...now in my late 30's....very rarely.

I'm sure they were just more "worried about my safety" back then than they are now?
