i would hope that you would not need to turn off the water flow to the generator when at speed to prevent water intrusion. seems ridiculous!

I agree that is a poor design but Grady White uses a pick-up for their generator that the manual states could cause water intrusion of the generator if left open while the generator is running.

By the number of complaints here regarding failed generators due to water intrusion, I am sure plenty others do too

I would like to see an automatic seacock valve as standard equipment, one that closes automatically when the generator is off. Groco has one for about $1800

Gensets should not have scoop water pickups. Air con and baitwells ok to have scoops. What kind of water pickup?
