Default Thoughts on a Sportsman 227

I am looking at a new 2019 Sportsman 227, and wondering what you think about quality and fishability. Looking to put a yamaha 250 vmax on it. Is this a good choice for the money, around $74,000.00 with all the extras I am looking for.

Whats all the extras? This year at a boat show a loaded out 247 Sportsman Plat model was 65K I believe. With a 300 Yamaha, hardtop and trolling motor.

I can buy a 25 Sea Hunt with a 300, hardtop, trolling motor and trailer for under the price you paying for a 22 foot sportsman.

Dont see how a 227 with a SHO 250 cost 74k no matter what options you getting.

Good boat, GREAT bilge access and the middle bench seat is a more comfortable and drier spot than the corner jump seats. I dont think its worth $74k as you were quoted, but if you can get it for a kuttle less $ you will have a boat of pretty decent quality that will do what you need it to. Are they still standard with basic electronics? Sportsman has grown but seems to have managed it without some of the issues that have arisen from other similar builders who have experienced similar growth. You will be happy with the boat, but see if you can shop it around a bit, although the dealers territory is protected. Goid luck!

Good friend has a 214 that I fish on a lot. I really like it. Very nice layout and finish. It’s wet compared to my blazer but the finish is a lot better. 74k is way too damn much tho.

I added the platinum package, steel blue gelcoat, full bow cushions and backrests, vhf, slide out cooler tray, porta potty, 2 additional gunwale rod holders,
on board charger and jack plate. Platinum package alone is a $11,500.00 option.

Whats included on the Plat package? 11 K is a lot of money added to a mid 50K bayboat with enough options for most people.

Down the road I think the Plat package will be much harder to get your money back out of it since its a 22 footer and not a 25 footer.

You can buy quite a few 24 and 25 foot bayboats with plenty of options and a 300 HP motor for what they are asking on a 22 foot boat.

What boat show was that, I am in Florida, maybe prices are more down here. I am willing to drive anywhere in country to get best price.
The quoted price also included a trailer.

gesh compass, raw water washdown and stereo should be standard anyways.

They making a fortune on that package. Hardtop with powder coating is around 5500. You know about powder coating and saltwater? If you fish a lot or if it gets chipped it will start coming off. Not worth the hastle.

Did the dealership quote you this price or was this the "internet price" they quote on their website? MSRP is several thousand more than their Internet price. I'm looking at this boat as well and am curious ab what others thought.

Yea please explain. Sea Hunt outsells Sportsman by a good bit. If they weren't doing something right they wouldn't be around all these years. They meet the same standards as a Sportsman. Both very equal boats.

By the way SH prices are getting crazy high like other brands are.
