Default Usp tuning

Anyone know much about this and what extra horsepower they are getting out of the Verados?

Are you talking about reflashing the ECM? Here's some good info here https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...have-done.html

I believe that they do more than reflashing the ECM to get the performance they are talking about. Wonder if it voids the warranty

It's nothing more than a tune like in a car. They play with parameters in the ECM. And yes if you play in the ECM from factory settings it can and will void your warranty. I heard they have keep the settings to let you return back to stock, but anyone that hooks up to a played with ecm can see the prior data and changes that have been made.

All that said they are killing it with the merc 350-400 platform. I think they are working on the non verado stuff now as well, but don't know if its out yet. It seems most of the 350-400 are getting a good 80HP increase, better economy, better response and so forth. My buddy is suppose to be getting his trip 400s done today

I was told $1800 per motor. 10% gain on top end, 10% increase in cruise MPG.

Reflashed 275's to 345 and run on Rec 90. Less than $800 ea. to do three. 350-400 can go to 455.

They have some really impressive numbers, its like doing an ECM flash to your daily driver. 10% gain is reasonable for $1800 especially if it truly improves efficiency.

I was told they are only flashing 350 and 400. They don't touch anything else.

Their target is 350-400 motors, they are working on merc exclusively and have the 4.6 in the works

Both Simon and Whipple have flashes. They do from 150 I4 to 400 I6 at $695-$795 ea.

Where do y’all think Simon’s got their tune files from? I’ll let y’all in on a little secret, Whipple (along with a close friend) was the first one to crack the Motorola PCM555 over 12 years ago. They were going after the performance boat market when they cracked the PCM on the Mercury Raving 525EFI. The rest just fell into place after that milestone.

Simons’s and USP are just using copied files from Whipple.

They do advertise you can flash and tune back to factory but I'd think it still be traceable. What I've read and I'm no expert is the extra power is really coming in the higher rpm range which means when they hook the motor they will see all the hours over stock max rpm.

Man an I wish there was a way to do it and still be under warranty. I'd do it immediately.

Yup theres the proof they ordered the tune from simmon and are now selling it as their “Max Plus” tune LOL. If you go on their instagram and look at their first post, they talk about spinning the motors to 7200 which is where simmon sets the rev limiter interesting isn’t?

I’m no expert , but seems like they have to be bypassing some emission controls (NOx sensor) and tuning and dumping more fuel at the motor for more hp. Would have to think Mercury would do this themselves and sell 460+hp verados, if they were clean enough.
