Default Sportsman Boat OFFICIAL Owners Thread!

MODs can delete this if if already exists:

The purpose of this thread is to get all the Sportsman Boats owners in one place. Feel free to post a picture of your boat, details, and where you’re from. After MANY hours of research I pulled the trigger on a new 252 (Blue hull, white powder coat T Top). Went with twin 200 and custom white paint. Should look like this when done:

Just put in an order for a 232 Open. I got it with ice blue sides, gray interior, white powder coat hard top, and the Yamaha 250 vmax. I'll be using it mostly around Chincoteague, VA and the Chesapeake Bay. Will post pics once I take delivery. How do you like yours so far?

Did you ever pick up your 232 Open? I ordered one last week - delivery is mid-to-late May for me.

Yep I picked it up a couple weeks ago. So far I've only put a few hours on it but everything has run great. I've been very happy with it.

I have a 2013 229. Great boat.

I have fished a 252 many times. You're gonna love it.

I will contribute. The wife and I picked up our new 247 at the end of March and have loved it ever since.

112lb Minn Kota
Two 10' Blades
Two 12" Garmins at the console
One 9" Garmin in the tower
Hydraulic Jack Plate
Seastar Electronic Power Steering (very cool!!)
Yamaha 300XCA

Currently don't have enough hours on it to get good performance numbers.

I own a 2018 Sportsman 232 Open. Yam 250. Had a little over a yr. Have about 75 hours on her. Took a while to figure out running it and the trim tabs. She likes lots of tabs in the chop, but, it helps dramatically. Good little battlewagon. Pulled it all the way to Marathon this past June. Really shined. Ran 25 miles out every day and caught our share of Mahi. Would love a 282, just not in the cards.

Picked up the 2019 252, twin 200s this spring w autopilot, optimus 360. Went with the tackle station seating option. Have been really pleased with it. Added an extra rod holder, Taco 380 bases. Wish I would have added radar but will do later.

Where is everyone storing their lifejackets? Historically have used a Tbag setup but not compatible w hardtop. Trying to keep the three floor fish boxes open for other storage / fish.

Any accessories that you love?

231 heritage. Have my life jackets in the console. I know your console is bigger so maybe more useful to get in and use the head but I know I'll probably never use it.

I also have a ton of storage in the bilge where the transom seat flips up, I may put them down there.

I have mine in one of the forward seating. They really do take a ton of room. I got a bag for them and tried the bilge area but they wouldn’t fit(6 jackets). Plus they aren’t easily accessible even though I Hope never to use them. You have more room then I do since you have the in floor fish boxes on each side of the leaning post. Another reason why I wish I went with the 252 but just don’t need or want twins and was talked out of doing a single on it.

Thank you for the replies.

Next question when you are trailering your boat (highway speeds) do you take your bow cushions off or run with them on? My dealer recommended I take them off while towing which I'm doing, but this takes up a large amount of console space.

My dealer said the same thing. They are just covering their ass. They don't go flying off when you are on the water so why would they on the highway? Just double check all the snaps are buttoned.
