Default 100k budget for a 26 to 31 cat, any advices ?

Hello,

I'm looking for a cc cat on a price range of 100k to 130k, my primary choice would be the Calcutta 263 rigged for offshore fishing but huge delays i read here, what are the possible -good quality- options ?

Invincible's are too expensive, Tide Line 235 too small, See Vee and World cat not so nice... A used Calcutta 263 would be an option but they are rare...

Thanks

In regards to "See Vee" is not a company as far as I know. "SeaVee" doesn't make catamarans and would never be considered "not so nice." Maybe you're thinking of Twin Vee? I don't know much about them outside of a couple charter boats and Sea Tow use them around here. Don't see many newer ones.

I think you are headed in the direction if you can wait out a new build Calcutta or find a used one.

Cayo, the skiff builder is building a cat that size, and there's a lot of info on here with a big build thread.

Prowler and Compmillennia might be more options for you to consider that seem to have a good following here.

Freeman 29 falls in the size range, but I am sure is out of budget new.

I would go for one of the above if you can find used or build new for your budget.

I don't know much about World Cat, Twin Vee or Glacier Bay.

Lastly, are you dead set on a Cat? If so, try explaining why. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't be, I just think there is a lot of hype around cats these days and people think they absolutely have to have one. I love them and a Freeman 42LR with a big ass gap tower would be at the top of my list if money were no object as far as a center console goes but there are a lot of great riding mono hulls in that size range and bigger if you look used and stay in budget.

Thanks for your answer, yes I mean't twin Vee cats. It is not world cat isn't an option but the fact in the Calcutta that we are "close to the water" compared to the others place it in first place, just the 2 years delay don't fit me..

as for the single vs twin hull, I want a twin hull as it will allow me to trolling fish at a low and medium speed with fuel efficiency I won't have with a single hull and same size / weight boat.

check out the Eastward 30’ cat he’s building. He’s got a build thread on here for hull number 1 and I think hull number 2 or 3 also has a build thread going.

This is unlike the other boats your looking at and a touch smaller but a good hybrid boat out of Texas is Dargel. They make a 25 foot cat thats an excellent hybrid and will run north of 60 with a t top on a single. Its a very different style than what you mentioned but worth looking at. You can build one with a 350 loaded for well under your budget as well.

I don't think any of those brands can be had for the price you are looking for new. I think you might want to finds a nice renaissance prowler if you want to get into the cat game at under $100K.

You're gonna need to look used at that price range. Most cats will be pretty rare on the used market, from what I've seen. Any of the above will work, if you can find one.

A used World cat would probably be your best option.

I've got a 26 ProSports Prokat. I've had it for 3 years no complaints. I was really unsure with all the negative reviews. But I would get it again in a heart beat!

I have seen the 26 Twin Vee going for under 90K, 100k loaded to the gills.

you mentioned trolling, have you spent much time trolling on a catamaran? after owning 4 catamarans up to 25 ft I would have to say the biggest disadvantage of owning a catamaran is when your trolling in rough water

Not to derail the thread but why would you say that? We just ordered a Prowler 25 and alot of my fishing is trolling. Just curious
