Dragged hole saw, dremel, tape, shop vac, etc uot to boat last night after dinner. Was going to mount standard Ritchie compass in standard top of helm placement.

Couldnt bring myself to drill the hole. I really wish I could get one upside downmounted under the electronics box.

Did a search, and this option doesn't exist. left compass in lean post storage while I Think of solutions.

Where wold yuo mount a compass? I like my dashes clean and simple.

I moved my compass and didn't want to cut another 3"" hole, so I cut a 4"pvc coupling and pipe to make a mount. Painted it white and only had to drill 2 small holes.
When and if I power the light it'll be a 3rd hole

Dash mount centered between your two other gauges?

Or go fancy and do a hidden flip up like seen on some of the higher end sport fish boats.

spot reserved for AP.

dont want To get too fancy here. Just looking for a flush mount unobtrusive compass.

Born in '82, the millennial in me doesn't mind holding a heading from a gps screen, just like having a compass when I can't see land.

Physics does allow it, you just need one designed and manufactured to do so.

How about a suction cup mount? I find that I want to have a compass for backup but seldom every look at it any more.

Aircraft compasses are often mounted overhead... may be an option:

Here's a cheap one that seems to be able to be mounted overhead:

I don't want it any lower than it has to be. Basically want an inverted flush mount compass.

Honestly best solution in here so far is either a suction cup mount or camp compass or the like.

Dont want it it to be overly fancy (read: costly), don't want it down low on dash.

Would something like this work? It has a mirror for reading it right-side-up.

i have a little hand held digital compass , great little device .cost was about 15 bucks at camping outdoor store.
i use it on the boat , out bush on the ATV + any other time compass or the few other options it has are required ,the kids love to play with it , it teaches them compass navigation and use of the other handy functions without them realizing it.
not the same as this but a similar device.

Would definitely be clean. Only issue would be the lighting. Could have a 12V cigarette lighter plug I guess. The ram mount suction cups hold on very tight.

Store it in the console in a knockoff pelican case.
