I would like to tow a tube with my Robalo R180 but the transom eyes seem really low on boat and close to the motor. Will a ski tow harness and booster ball be able to keep the line out of the motor? Is there a specific size I should be using? Thank you....new to this stuff.

Yes! I used a booster ball this past weekend for towing the kids on a tube behind my bay boat. I think it does more for keeping the tube nose from diving down into the water than from keeping the rope out of the motor. I connected my tow harness to the transom and it floated w/o the booster ball, since most harnesses come w/float material. There is about 30' of rope between your transom and the booster ball. When idling, it were going to sink and get into your motor, it would do it even w/the booster ball in the tow line.

I use a booster ball too, mainly just helps with to keep the spray out of the riders face, but I also believe it does help the rider out to prevent a nosedive in the beginning. But what you are looking for, for your question, is a Y harness. Airhead makes a few. They have ones that float, ones that have a pulley, etc... You can buy them from just about anywhere. I have a regular Airhead Y harness with the little float at the end, works good.

I have never used the booster ball but that seems to be the universal solution to your concern. A raised tow arch is a better solution, but that can be pricey and often the mfr's or installers recommend against using them for tubes (more for legal reasons than engineering reasons IMO, but I digress).
