Default Intrepid 430 Euro Build thread

I have been wanting to upgrade from my 377 to a boat that apparently does not exist....UNTIL NOW :-)

My perfect boat needs to meet these qualifications:

1. outboards (I aint dealing with inboards)
2. shallow draft (I go kitesurfing to stillsville sandbar every windy weekend) as well as enjoy beaching the boat when we go to the bahamas in the summer
3. room to sleep with my wife, 2 little kids and not feel cramped.
4. american build, Im not dealing with Italian stuff like my friends with fancy looking boats.
5. a cool european deck layout - when Im not spearfishing or kitesurfing I want to hang with a bunch of friends and have everyone comfortable

and yes, I do zero fishing only spearfishing.

I checked out Formula 43, insane price, ugly boat and tiny cabin, having said that, it has a lot of cool feaures but doesnt sleep 4/5. The Azimut verve good seating area behind, but cabin is basically what my 377 has and its an azimut. Chris Craft launch 38- nice cabin and some nice design features but seems small and fragile. Sessa 38 has good design features but I know for a fact they dont age well and its italian.

I approached the guys from Intrepid with a concept to build a different deck layout on their 43 which I think is a great size for cruising to a restaurant alone with the wife, crossing to bahamas, going kitesurfing and they said yes. Attached is the layout/concept we are developing as well as a comparison of the concept vs. the regular 430 sportyacht. In short, the captains chair and passengers chair has a backrest that will fold down and turn into a table/countertop area for food/wine etc… Behind that, we are creating a sitting area where 6 people can sit, beneath the sitting area we are putting chill plates for ice and fish storage. Behind the sitting area a big cushion for 3 people to lay on.

We are developing how everything articulates and still working out placement of refrigerators, speakers lighting etc, but here are some of the plans. The guys from Intrepid have been great, I went up to their factory and they did a mock up of all of these exact dimensions on a 43 that was half way built and it actually worked great. We are now going to sort out how we will hinge or remove the back lounge to access the bilge and generator etc…

I am trying to figure out a way to also hinge the last 15” or so of the bed so that when not in use you can also walk between the bed and the transom without stepping over the bed but in doing so we loose the opportunity to hinge the bed completely on the transom so it can tilt up to give access to generator and bilge….

power will come from trip DF350s (have had 7 suzukis in my life and love them).

deliver date is September…..more to come.

Why only one Garmin MFD? I would think you would want 2 on a boat of that size. Do you intend on having radar, autopilot, etc...?

There always has to be some dude who posts something negative. The guy is buying a $10,000.00 22" HD monitor. I am pretty sure he can see enough information on it.

It makes me happy that two of the three qualifications are to go to dinner alone with your wife, and go kitesurfing. Awesome looking boat.

I was at the factory in December. Pretty amazing.

evolution is a great day boat for the northeast in my opinion, like a fancy pilothouse and the cabin is very nice but I think it only sleeps 2 or 3. This is a 43' boat that sleeps 4 plus another if you open up the couch.....perfect for my size family.

I guess weght/lenght/power wise its similar to the evolution.

If I had unlimited funds I would add another screen, paint the entire boat a metallic paint, put a seakeeper and put A/C in the cockpit....but thats not the case.

so, I'll have to "survive" with a 22" screen....should be fine to look at radar and chartplotter split in two.

and yes, I am putting autopilot.

Dude, you are building a new 43 ft Intrepid, you can afford another screen. Minimum standard for a boat of that class
BTW Cockpit air is pretty nice in the Bahamas, just saying...
