Marina scraped up my new motor

Got my boat stored on a trailer in boatyard for the winter. When they moved it they dragged the skeg of my motor through the rock gravel yard, scraping up the skeg of my new motor.
Now when I stored it, I tilted the motor up a little so it wouldn’t hit in case they did move it. However, someone at the yard put it all the way down , I guess thinking it should be that way for winter storage. But I had it only tilted up a little.
Found this out yesterday when I went there to check something.
So I’m off the charts pissed off.
What should I do? Go ape on them, or forget about it cause there’s nothing I can really do about now.

"Off the charts pissed off" is an overreaction.
not many skegs, on boats that get used, still have paint on them after a season.
ask them to sand and paint. go boat, have fun.
if they wont. You can move marinas, sand and paint yourself in 30 mins. go boat and have fun
If you are not easily pleased. go buy a waterfront home, install a lift, sand and paint skeg. go boat and have fun

That sucks. It's a shame when people screw up, but there's not a ton of recourse here. I'd have them sand it and paint it and be done with it. It'll get scraped again through use soon enough, I would imagine.
Similar thing just happened to me with my wife's Yukon. Took it in to get the heated seat fixed under warranty, and they scratched the truck while they were working on it. They sent it to a body shop and got it fixed. I am pissed off, but it's really not worth fighting over something like that.

Sounds like there was really no harm done and no reason to go ballistic.however the marina employees were likely aware of the damage and should have informed management and you of the incident.

It's a skeg dude, will you be irate at yourself when you wear the paint off? I realize it's new and someone else did the scraping but damn, I thought I was high strung

Its annoying that the messed the skeg up but it should end there just annoying as chances are it won't make it through the first season and still look all pretty. I would bitch about it and see if I could get a can of spray paint out of it.

Isn't that what a skeg is for? Granted, it sucks that you weren't the one to christen it, though. Lost track of the number of times I've hit something w/ mine

I agree that at this point, it's not a big deal and accidents happen, but the issue is they did this and didn't tell you.
What else are they going to do and keep quiet about? Do they expect better from their employee?
How they react when you talk to them will tell you what they're about. If they deny it or blame you for leaving the motor down, go elsewhere.
