Default Eastward Boats ads a BIG CAT to their line

Eastward Boats is proud to have acquired the molds for a 30’ power catamaran that has a proven hull design with a long history of providing a smooth dry ride, able to withstand the punishment of extreme conditions.

The original design comes from Australia where catamaran style hulls dominate the saltwater boat market due to the rough conditions. The boat will be available in four configurations, center console or cuddy cabins.

The hull design incorporates a high bow that can cruise at displacement speed into a steep head sea, something that other cats don’t do very well. The tunnel is also rounded for superior strength and softer landings, when compared to catamarans that have squared off tunnels. This also eliminates stress cracks in the tunnel. The hull measures 30 feet, 3 inches in length and with a 9 foot, 3 inch beam, it’s easy to trailer.

Center Line Length w/o Engines: 30’ 3”
Beam Amidships: 9' 3"
Maximum HP: 600
Suggested HP: 500
Fuel Capacity - Standard: 300 gallons
Optional: 600 gallons

I'll be posting pics throughout the build. We teamed up with Composites One, the industry's leader in fiberglass materials and lamination schedule engineering, to come up with a hull layup that strikes a balance between light-weight and maximum strength. The center console, powered with a pair of Evinrude G2 200s and aluminum trailer is 99K. I believe the average boat will end up around 120K to 130K by the time it's tricked out with T-Top, electronics, etc. We also factory rig with Mercury.

Looks great! Are you going to offer a model with the windows like on the far left of your ad? What are expected performance numbers? Is this a planing or semi-planing hull or more displacement. Nice to have a 30 cat with a cabin priced well. Best of luck!

seems like a smart move to "move quickly" and go to Australia to get a proven concept and mold

Interested in the cruise/performance #s? Also do you have the interior layout yet, specifically the CC?

30’ cat starting at 100k with trailer is super intriguing. Can’t wait to see some finished builds hopefully soon!

The boat was originally only offered with a small cuddy, it's the one we're calling a Forward Cuddy. Our plans are to use that cap/liner mold for a cuddy and CC with a forward cuddy. We will modify that cap, by moving the helm bulkhead aft to build what we're calling a Weekender Cuddy. The hull is semi-planning but has a lot more forward displacement, when compared to the US built cats. You do give up some of the sexy lines, but the ride in rough conditions is incredible. In Australia, virtually every Search and Rescue, Coast Guard and LE boat uses this hull design. I attached a link to a video you might like. Obviously, we didn't build any of the boats in the video but it's the same hull. Enjoy....

I'll post the build of our interior layout for the CC, but the nice thing about having a boat custom built is, you get to design the interior layout YOU want. Baitwells, fishboxes, seating, it's all up to you.

She'll be able to run from Venice out to the Green Canyon and back, multiple times, with plenty of reserve.
