Default Yamaha F300 outboards

I am looking at a boat with a pair of 2012 f 300 outboards hanging on it. Sea trial is scheduled this coming week. Does anyone have any pros or cons about these motors? I just want to make sure there is no bad history with this particular run of. Motor

Apparently nobody who buys a 4.2L Yamaha ever sells them. Digital controls?

2012 build. 320 flawless hours. The THT rumor mill has it that this is one of the best motors that Yamaha has ever built.

Not a Yamaha fanboy by any means, but I've not heard any bad things about those motors except they are hard to find. Good luck.

Default Max RPM

I also just purchased a new vessel with a F-300 straped on. My question is the engine only revs up to ~5500 rpm’s at WOT. I was thinking my Pathfinder 2400TRS would go faster than 55 with this engine.

My old Yami F-200 would go up to 6500 rpm’s WOT with trim up.

Great motor.

Once you have digital shift and throttle you won’t ever want to go back.

The only issue anyone reports is “making oil” .... which is oil dilution with fuel. This is usually caused by a weak break in and is fixed by running it like a scalded ape.

New GW with F300. It’s a beast. Not many hours yet but looking forward to running it like I stole it.

Pretty much what he said. That engine will go down in history like Chevy's small block.
