Default Quad Compmillennia Cat Build Thread 40' Lightspeed® "Elle à quatre"

Four Engine Cat, Quad Cat....Not really exciting.

But in French:

Elle à quatre; she’s got four.

Or better yet,

à quatre pattes; on all fours (on hands and knees)

I like the mental image. I can go for that!

Four outboards to push it along.
Our single step catamaran hull design has four contacts to the water.

Should be boat flying in May.

Speed on the Water and T-Top are rarely used in the same sentence.

Aerodynamics is a fascinating art and science. I have been an EAA member since 1969 and looked to go down that path in high school. My mother convinced me not to. I relied upon her to take me to the lumber yard on Saturdays to collect materials for my projects that wouldn't transport on my bike. The 16' 1 x 12 Spruce she assumed was for another boat, but was for actually for a hang glider.

The first Great all Ohio Kite Flying Contest led me to build a man carrying kite, AKA "Hang Glider". 2 x 16' made for a 32' wingspan with simple rudder and elevator controls. Lots of Dihedral.

All was well and Mom drove us and the new "Boat" to the city park on the contest day. The problem was there was no wind. No one could fly their kites. Since I had 600 feet of 3/8" manilia line and hundreds of bored spectators to run with the tether, and my light weight 8 year old brother as a pilot, we were able to loft the "kite' to the limits of 600 feet of 3/8 " manila rope.

By default this made us the Winner, but there was a reason the Wright Brothers had wing warping. At the max altitude the craft veered off and crashed.

The Good thing was that 8 year old Andrew was relatively ( meaning from a brother) unhurt.

The Bad thing was that my Mother saw it.

The Good thing was that my Mother was an ex Marine Corporal from WW II and used to dealing with subordinates and never ratted me out to my Dad, an ex Captain in the Army who was our superior.

The Bad thing was that she ended my aeronautical career then and there.
