Default Trim Tab Switches - Change Bennett switch with Lenco tabs?

New to me boat has an issue with the tabs. I think it's is the switch, but haven't had time to isolate it yet.

I have a bennett switch like this

The tabs are newer and are lenco.

I don't know how that switch would run the lenco tabs, but it does intermittently. Can I just swap the switch if that's the issue?

I'd prefer to use the lenco switch, but don't know what the plugs and mounting holes look like on the back between these two and at this point i'm looking for the simplest fix since nearly all my tools are packed away.

What make and year boat? It sounds like the Actuators may have been swapped out for Lencos at some point.

The first thing to do is look at the back of the switch and make sure all 12 screws are clean and tight, even if there is not a wire attached to them. That could be your issue.

Yes, you could replace it with another Bennett switch but you will have to do the wiring the same as it is now.

Here's how the wiring is done for our switch on Lenco Tabs;

lenwire

I hope this helps,

Tom

Thanks Tom. That diagram helps. I'll be going over to check it out later today so I'll clean everything first before getting a new switch.

It is a 1996 Dolphin Backcountry.

CB,

Sounds like a plan, as I mentioned be sure all of the screws are there and tight!

We made the the tabs for Backcounty in 96 so it was a swap out.

My switch seems to be installed backwards aka port and starboard swapped. Other than that it looks okay and everything is tight and clean.

should i be able to jump the power and ground at the switch to test the actuators since there is no control box like there is on the lenco types?

Keep in mind the right switch should operate the port (left) Tab.

Yes putting + and - on the wires running to the actuators will make them run one way, then reversing + and - on the same wires will make it run the other way.
