Default Dolphin Boats General Info & Owners Thread

So, there's 3 of us here that I know of and I figured why not start a thread for Dolphin Boats, kind of like the Paramount thread. Well, except even a smaller audience.

RE: question from 22 Bull Dolphin about electronics layout. Here's mine:

It came with an older stereo, but I wanted room for 2 bottom machines so I removed that, put in a gauge-size head unit and another garmin:

Cup holders! This has been bugging me for a while. I had a stick-on type on the top of the console, but drinks would spill regularly and then of course all over the console and me. So I found these, and now will have them conveniently located lower on the side of the console so any spills go directly to the floor instead of on me. Probably one of the cheapest mods I've ever done that makes me as happy as this does!

Yea, I like what you've done with your electronics set up. I've got the same except I've got a full cubby, I'm assuming you added the flush piece where you've mounted everything?

No, I got it this way as you see in the first picture. Yours might just be missing the mounting panel?

I guess so, I'm going to put in a panel like you got though. I like that.

I'd prefer to have it like Eric's personally. I like the box, but having solid glass would be better. That way I could move the other stuff up vs having it lower on the console. Too much work though. I've got plenty of other things to deal with.

Just to bring it over here more officially.

Plan is for HDS 8, 10, or 12 next to the HDS 5 already there, networked so either can drive the transducer or read engine data.

I can't go too high on my console, because of the storage compartment on top of it, which is about 4-5" deep.

The stereo and VHF are in the electronics box above.

Also have a flush mount compass to go next to MFD's that I haven't mounted yet...

Man I'm not used to being so official. Can we even start a sentence with a colloquialism like "man"?

Well, since there's only three of us I'd say we can do whatever we want!

Man, we can start a sentence however we want to. It's our thread!

I didn't realize you had a compartment up there. That's kind of nice. I was thinking about getting some starboard and making a strip across the front of mine so things I toss up there don't come flying back at me. Might have a piece of SeaDek cut for it then too. I'd love to see what that compartment looks like some time when you get a chance.

I bet you could mount them higher up than you think - the larger units don't have much behind them on the edges as long as the plugs are in the bottom so they're fairly shallow.

Mine is only 7" but this shows you the back - if that was flush mounted there wouldn't be depth necessary above the plugs. How far from the face does the compartment start at? Behind the cup holders?

I like this guy already.

I don't recognize your boat. Was it listed online? I've only seen one other with that light hull besides mine, and it had a Merc plus painted logo & name on it.

Where are you located?

I will post some pictures once I am with my IPAD.

I have the Suzuki 250 four stroke. Turning a 23 prop (I think), me a buddy and half full of fuel, 51 MPH WOT, cruising about 36-38 at 4000 ish. I did not take fuel readings as i do not have a great way to do so.

I doubt you will see significant improvement with the 300 Yammy, likely to same top end with the ETEC. The four stroke does not make it sit low in water either. I think about a 1/4 lower than the 225 Mercury 2 stroke from the line on the boat during the switch.

I do have a 30" lower and so I do not have more than 1-2 " of additional lift above the water for my jack plate. However, i can get it to go high enough to porpoise and blow out.

Sweet, we got another one! I'm about 52 with the 4 blade. I'll have to check the cruise, I don't usually pay attention to the RPM that much but stay around 30 where the MPG sweet spot is.

Lol! I can't wait to see it with the Zuke. I got 50mph 1/4 tank of fuel no jack plate an two guys. 4 blade 17 pitch prop. I think the 250 would be the sweet spot but I bet that 300 blows out of the hole!

Here's another picture of mine. It's one of my favorite photos of the boat.
