Default Boat Show Etiquette

Hey guys I am planning on going to the Jacksonville boat show this weekend and was just curious if y'all had any tips on what to or what not to do at a boat show?

Also can you get financing at a boat show?

Wear non-scuffing shoes OR remove shoes prior to boarding all boats.

Along with that, try not to take the kids with you if they're younger (walking age, but not old enough to not be rowdy). I took mine with me to the St. Pete Power and Sail Show last year and regretted EVERY minute of it! At least the Sea Hunt guy was cool and let them play all over the one they brought. I didn't even try to get them out on the dock to look at the Grady Canyon 376 that I wanted to get aboard...

Never been to that show or one remotely near, but I've never been to a boat show where a. there wasn't finance available and prominently advertised (with a few show 'carrots') at the boat stands or b. where there weren't stands specifically for marine finance specialists. I'd be very surprised if the answer was 'no'.

Sounds like you're going to buy - I would make any deal I agreed subject to having a sea trial on a demonstrator - a boat is a lot of money to find out you don't like the way it behaves at sea on your first trip once it's too late to back out.

its been a few years since I've been to the Prime Osborn BoatShow. But If you able to wait another few months the one at Metro Park is much better.

Yes; but, there is also financing to be found online. Shop around for the best rate. The dealer rarely has it.

By far the Metro Park show is better; but, you'll never mistake either one for NYC, Ft Lauderdale or Miami.

Refer to every boat you talk about as a "whip".

that's hilarious!!! That's pretty good, I'd say show up in your cheapest outfit/cut up shirt with mustard stains an a corn dog, the first boat salesmen that will speak to you is who you should talk too. If he's got the boat your looking for. I've been a few times to this boat show but unfortunately will miss this one because of work but typically a good selection of boats and I agree with the guys above, a lot more options at the shows down south.

I had the opportunity to inspect a 142' expedition yacht at the FLL show a few years back. Totally bad-ass and ready to go around the world with two 32' CC's on deck up front. Went into the VIP suite and, not thinking, sat on the edge of the bed to take a look around. The look on my tour guides face was pure horror - he couldn't believe I had the balls to do that.

"what? I can't check the bed out before buying it?"

At the Miami show a few years back, my brother ripped the most disgusting fart ever in the cabin of one of the larger boats there. I promptly got the hell out but the family coming in.....I don't know if they made it.
