What are you getting for a response when you do attempt to post or attach your pic?

My preference for posting images is to upload the image to my personal Photobucket account, then to use the image URL link in-line in the reply.

Examples are shown below. The examples have spaces, to permit seeing the format. The actual usage has NO spaces.

how'd you rotate his photo, I been on a few friends to try holding their phones horizontal and try to quit the sideways photo's, you'd think if a smart phone was so smart they would have it figured out. If they get it right I want to be able to send them back their photo on it's side for grins.

I am on one website that when you click on a sideways photo it automatically rotates the picture for viewing, wish THT would add this function.

really appreciate you starting this thread Sloch, very helpful.

This always happens to me. Picture look fine to me, I can even open them in paint, just fine. But when I load them to THT, they flip, sometimes 180 degrees..

I'll try some now because I usually add photos with the Insert Image button and not the paper clip. I'll try the paper-clip for this thread..

The only way I know to fix a photo (rotation) is to save it to your computer, open it in paint (or another photo editing program), rotate the picture properly, save it, and re-upload it.

That being said, if your software "auto-rotates" your pictures, you need to find a program that doesn't. Someone earlier in the thread was using an Apple, and it always showed the pictures correctly even though they were not.

All but 1 of your pictures (the one that's upside down) were taken with your phone in the upright position. If you want your pictures to show up correctly, you'll have to use software to rotate them, or stop taking pictures that way, and lay your phone on it's side (landscape). Landscape makes for a better picture under most conditions anyway.

As for the upside down picture, you either took it upside down (phone in landscape orientation, but 180 degrees off), or you rotated it with some software program to make it look that way.

To be clear, THT (or any vBulletin forum) does NOT rotate your pictures. It displays them the way you upload them. I know it looks like it's the forums fault, but trust me, it's not. Once you figure it out, you'll agree..

This was taken with a standard camera.. seemed to work fine.. I guess the issue is with a Cell Phone.. that although I see it correctly, technically it must be formatted differently.... Thanks

Default Trouble adding pics

Im having trouble adding pics to my thread.... 2017 Sheaffer build. Is there a limit per thread that the thread originator can add? Using the same steps as originally done for the first two posts... thoughts or advice from mods?

Not a mod, just the OP. I've never heard of a limit. What problems are you getting? Are you receiving an error message of some sort?

No error message. I upload the pics through the attachment method detailed in this thread and previously used for my posts. Once post is submitted the text shows up but no pics. It's like the files are not uploading although the upload process in the attachment window appears to complete itself appropriately...

May try from a different computer and see if that works

Upper left corner of the page there's a button that says "NEW THREAD". Click on it, Voila.

Of course it's not visible when viewing a thread, it's on the page where all of the threads are.

Same here and it's absolutely maddening. Pics also seem to struggle on mobile. Have to go to the full site and navigate from there. And if the pic is rotated in correctly, which you won't know because the phone displays it correctly, you're SOL.

Oh, for sure. I completely get that. Point is that it's poor user experience.

Smart phones have overtaken digital cameras as the predominate way to capture images and mobile internet usage has now surpassed desktop internet usage.

The HT interface - being unable to access your camera roll from the mobile site and then being unable to rotate the image once you navigate to the full site - makes for a poor user experience.

The long term risk is losing posters, and an inactive forum is a dead forum. If THT is ok with that and chooses not to improve, that's a business decision on their part. i think it's silly to ignore consistent feedback however.

You can do this by opening the picture in MSPaint (windows 10) or Paint (XP and previous versions of windows).

Open the picture with paint, click on the rotate button, and save the picture. Then you can either upload, or re-upload it to THT in the correct orientation.
What about loading a photo from a cell phone I cannot figure it out

If I recall correctly, the only way to add a pic from a mobile device is to use the full site, not the mobile site.

I agree that there could (should) be provisions to add pics from a mobile device, however, using the full site is a workaround until that happens.

Here's a link to post #10 in this thread that explains how to do this:
