Small bridge, small cabin, windshield, engine boxes and $650K......sorry, I don't get it. In the early 60's, the 31' Bertram was revolutionary. This new 35 isn't. It simply doesn't make any sense and I think it will be a failure like the most recent 41' Bertram. But I wish them success, I hope they can get past this boat and build something the market wants. If it turns out I am wrong, I will be happy but for now, I will stand by on my opinion.

Bertram in name only, not the founders should see that large center console rigs with trips and quads are very popular. Why not exploit that market?

Because they have only built 3....Also not a fan of the layout but was at the Trade debut at the show. They stressed the fact that this boat was built for some european who is a day cruiser and that this boat is not rigged to fish at all. They figured this layout and design worked well with the Newport setting as far as wanna be Hinckley owners go. They said their number 2 build will be rigged for some serious off shore fishing.....but guess we got to wait to see that one

Looks like they are trying to compete with the picnic boat segment and in that case it is a relative bargain when compared to the likes of Hinckley and MJM.

That said, I don't think it will have the same appeal and as a result Bertram will fall flat on its face.

I will take an Albermarle 32 all day every day and twice on Sunday's over this boat.

$650k base ! Ouch I'm out...... High stakes for a 35' I was hopping to see around $500-550k. With so many good used boats out there they will have trouble selling to most fishermen.

Why have a windshield with no lower helm, too much solar heat? So many people are glassing over theirs on 31s as we speak during refabs
300 gals is too little fuel in my opinion as stated earlier on other post about this boat.

I guess we shouldn't be too surprised, I'm not sure who they spoke with to get input about some of the features but it stands to reason they probably didn't listen to too many people who fish hard and look at long term ownership. Window glass and frames are a weak point on the lower deck house. Ocean did it right with the Billfish series.

It if sounds too sour grapes, its because I don't have an extra $650k so I have to find something to hate about it.

The mid-size sporty market is dead. No idea whether that's permanent, but at least for now, I cannot imagine paying $650 given how far money goes in the used market. I don't think I would feel differently if I had more money, either.

The diesel engine boxes it eat up 50% of the deck/cockpit space. Really needs v-drives or outboards.

I love the classic lines. Pretty close to a 31 in looks. Kinda of a classic meets modern take.

Why on earth does this 35' have engine boxes when my 1979 35B did not?

They take up way too much deck space.

I do like the look of it.

Do the engine boxes create any more noise on the deck? I know Bertram did it to appeal to the 31 owners but would there be any other reasons?
