Sounds like a true case of poor management, training, and hiring practices. Most of the time it's better to INVEST in the people you hire so they can provide the product or services that customers require, instead of bringing in inexperienced people, not being properly supervised/managed, and save a dollar. I am glad you were able to get the motors running right and brought it to their attention that ill-qualified individuals will cost them more in the long run.. I'm sure they lost you as a customer..

Nothing worse than thinking you have an agreed price, excited about buying your boat, then the next thing you know the price changes.. This happened to me when I went to buy my daughter a car. The advertised price was $11,999.00. I walk in there and agree to pay listed price. Then they wanted fees $650 and $450.00. The sales rep agrees to drop the $650.00 fee, so now the car is 12449.00. I say fine. The sales rep goes to speak with the manager, comes back and tells me that they are all set, price $12,900.!!!! WTF... I requested to speak with the Manager. He couldn't even justify the NEW price, except to say, they need to make some money on the car. Really? you offer it at $11,999.00 I don't even negotiate, willing to pay retail and you jack up the car another $1000.00.

I told him that he has two choices. He either sells me the car for $12,449.00, which was the agreed price with their sales rep OR they can keep the car and every with a computer on this planet will know about the shady operation he runs, and that his name will be included in it.

Car sold; $12,449.00

The MarineMax service experience in Lindenhurst is a joke. At this point, it has been five months (yes, five months) and they have yet to schedule our Whaler for repairs to the VacuFlush, port side fish box macerator, raw water wash down and live well, and Kohler generator recalls. I install the new battery switches myself at my own expense that were recalled because the boat couldn't start without them. As a flagship Northeast dealer, their communication and administration of service are horrible. Boston Whaler really needs to address this issue. I read what you wrote above Vin, but you are really giving them too much credit. Five months.

I agree with you 100%... things do take a long time to get scheduled AND I'M NOT DEFENDING THEM, as they are clearly understaffed.... but with that said, I feel that I get very good service from them. I credit my Service Rep Tim. He works with me, we have an unspoken mutual understanding due to the circumstances that go on there beyond his control. If there is something that affects the operation of my boat, which limits my use of the boat, I believe they do everything they can to get me in within the week (or longer if they are waiting on a part). If it's something that doesn't affect the operation of my boat, such as they have to repaint my hardtop frame, they push it off until the season is over.

I too had VacuFlush Issues, serious issues... and he knew it affected the way we use the boat as my wife made it clear that she was only buying this boat because she loved the full head...LOLOL Thus, when this issue arose, Tim was very pro-active, worked with whaler, manufacturers and a vendor and had them on the boat within the week. At the same time they replaced the air-conditioner coolant motor and a macerator for the head, in addition to the Vacuflush motor and venting system.

So you can understand why I can't complain about the service I receive from Marine Max. I do credit Service Rep Tim 1000%, as he responds to my emails within 24hrs (most of the time within an hour), always returns calls, is an active liaison between me, management and the manufacturer .. and most importantly discusses the game plan/strategy for repairs going forward so that we are all on the same page and there are no unfilled expectations.

Portions of last year, I had a different rep (no longer with Marine Max) and I was living the nightmare that you are speaking about...and that BS is beyond aggravation.

What an incredible experience. Just found this thread today and spent almost an entire afternoon scrolling through it. Glad to see that your frustrations and troubles finally "appear" to have been solved. To me it's one of life's great pleasures to be out on the water and know your boat is running and performing exactly as it should.

Good luck with it going forward.

saw your thread. you have an issue with your joystick? they tried to fix it once? maybe give them another chance. escalation would be reaching out to executive management of brunswick/mercury/whaler... not running to an attorney as you are planning...

May want to rethink leaving your email address and name open on a public forum like this. Better off using the PM feature here.
